Comparing Westeds

My brother came down to visit this week and we started comparing our Raiders style Wested jackets. Jeremy has had his Wested since 1999 or 2000 and I just got mine in September of this year. We were pretty surprised how much difference there was in the jackets. All things being equal but the year of creation there is a noticeable difference in weight (mine is much heavier), pockets (size and stitching), depth of action pleats (mine are MUCH deeper, collar (mine is larger), and the lining (mine has satin sleeves vs. all cotton). While I did not have time to get comparison pics together I was wondering about the evolution of the Wested jacket and was looking for info on the subject and opinions from those who own both old and new Westeds. IMO Jeremy's jacket appears to be more like the "Authentic Raiders" on Wested.com where mine is a"Standard Raiders."

Forgive me if this has alredy been discussed, I've surfed IndyGear for a long time but just recently started reading the boards...no idea why I waited so long.

Just playing with you!

I just sold an older lambskin that had a cotton collar stand, then I looked more closely at the Kurtz jacket and realised it had a cotton collar stand too!! :(

Ah well, some things change for toughness I suppose.

Hey JA,

Yeah, I'd be very interested in seeing these pictures. I just posted a topic about my 99' Wested, which seems to be the same "vintage" as your brother's. I was wondering the same thing in terms of differences. This whole business of "Authentic Raiders" versus "Standard Raiders" has me intrigued.
