This, I am sure has been asked 1000 times but I am a nooby, forgive me, so I went to the store measured my foot with a bannock devise my foot is exactly a 9 length and inbetween B and C width and between a 9 and 9.5 at the ball of my foot. What size should I wear? A guy at a local shoe shop told me that he could order a few differant sizes to try, they don't carry the indy boot. In red wing I wear a 9.5 B but , the heel slips a little.

With Alden's, contrary to some misconceptions, you should always go with your exact size, having been professionally measured.

Sounds to me like you should be a 9 with C width - but perhaps some more learned members will chime in (Michaelson?).

Al

It's best to have your foot measured professionally at a store that sells (specializes in) orthopedic shoes and go by their recommendations. They not only go by the size of your foot but also how your foot responds while walking. I normally wear a D width, but Fritz (the man who fitted my Aldens) suggested wearing a size EE in Aldens because of the way my foot "spread" when walking.

Personally, I'd recommend you either contact Jim at the Alden Shop, or the Alden factory customer service.

You can reach Jim at:

aldensf@yahoo.com

If your heel slides a bit with a 9.5 B width, if you go with a C, it's going to be worse.

They will be the best folks to tell you exactly what you need. Be sure to tell them the exact measurement your foot was measured to...NOT what you 'usually wear'.

Tell Jim 'Michaelson' sent you from Indygear.

The guy at the local shoe shop ordered a 9.5 b and 9b, so I could try both of them on and pick the one that fits me best. The alden shop in San Fran would not send him the only 9c he could find, so if neither 9.5 or 9 B work out I will have the san fran shop send me the 9c.

Before I bought my Aldens online, I went to the Alden shoe retailer to get my feet measured. I'm used to gettng my feet measured since I've been wearing Allen Edmond dress and casual shoes for the past 20 + years. I wear an A or AA width in that line, depending on the last of the shoe. The men's store that sold Aldens used a Brannick device, but he must not known how to read it. He measured me at a C width. I eneded up ordering an A width from Alden, but feel that an AA wouldn't be too bad, either. I hope others fare better with their local Alden dealer.
