I just found this site a few days ago but I've been an Indy fan forever. (wow that sounded like "first time caller, longtime listener") Anyway on 10/15 I ordered a custom Wested Raider's style jacket in the 80's cut. I went with the authentic lamb. I plan to distress it so I'll be studying the distressing posts during my long wait. I'm sure I'll have more than my share of questions so I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone.

welcome to the board! congrats on your incoming jacket....wested is a fine choice......can't say the same about taking the sandpaper to it but to each his own. there's a tonne of info in regards to distressing, please read carefully through it all before going medieval on her. :D

I'll try to post some before and after pics for everyone.

As for the distressing, I plan to wrinkle and throw it in the dryer (no heat) with some tennis balls. I'll probably do the soaking in cold water followed by hang drying. I don't know if I'm willing to try the sandpaper. I might do the rubbing alcohol if the shine just makes it look too new, but I'm not sure yet.

I got a Wested recently. I was going to age it, but when it arrived and I held it in my hands the thought of using sandpaper or alcohol on it gave me this sick feeling in my stomach. Needless to say, I'll be taking the natural distressing route, but to each his own. Be careful with that sandpaper, as I've seen many people say before, you can put a mark on, but you can't take it off.

Hey, welcome! Glad to see a fellow newbie joing the ranks. The first piece of gear that I purchased was a wested as well, always a good choice. Wear it proudly!
