So I just got my Wested lambskin and it's the third leather jacket I've owned. Normally with leather jackets I don't worry about them at all, I trust that they'll hold up to anything. But after reading all of the posts on here about how fragile the lambskin is, I'm afraid to even lean against a wall in my Wested for fear of damaging it. I was thinking that anybody who has a lambskin Wested could post here about what kind of stuff has happened to their jackets and how they pulled through.

A lot of people make it sound like if you sneeze while wearing the lambskin, you'll have to send it back for repairs. It's not that fragile. I've leaned on bricks, stucco, wood, whatever in my jacket and it's always been fine. I've had my lambskin for probably a little over a year now without one accident or anything happening to it. Others will also tell you that it's often exaggerated about. Of all the Wested leathers, it is the most fragile, but it's not going to tear in half if somebody walks past you too quickly.

IndyMcFly has it pretty much nailed down... When the CoW folks here call it fragile, they pretty much mean that it's fragile if you intend to be dragged behind a truck, fall off a cliff, or throw yourself into a lake. Otherwise, for the rest of us, it holds up just fine

Yea and how many people here actually put their jacket through that?!?

I have a lambskin that is 2 years old, no artificial distressing. All there is is general natural wrinkling and edges are lightened from rubbing on stuff. The satin lining has worn through on the bottom on the corners. It is currently in with wested to get a new lining. Apart from that it's as good as new.

I also have a 10 year old lambskin, it has some scratches here and there, all stitching is sound, all leather is sound. It may have had a little artifical distressing from a previous owner. I put it through a hot machine wash and it is still fine. It has it's original cotton liner and that is fine too.

Both Todd and Wested "budget" lambskins are thinner, both are made overseas, the stitching looks quite similar. It will take time to test if these hold up.

My Wested Lambskin is 6 years old and I've never had any problems with it, like they said unless youre planning on getting dragged behind a truck it should hold up well.
