Alden laces

I could be wrong, but in Raiders, when we occasionally catch a glimpse of the top of Indy's boots, two things are apparent:

1. Ford didn't bother using the skate hooks.

2. The laces are round rather than flat.

Regarding 1, anyone here tie their Aldens this way? I have to say it's a bit fiddly winding the laces around the hooks, so I can understand why one might take shortcuts. I don't, though, as I'm worried it might be damaging to the boot in the long run.

iirc, ford leaves the top 2 hooks undone. you can see this in a screen cap somewhere.....oh vp??!?!?

the laces were different as well....i think this was discussed ages ago that his laces were the rounded type....could be wrong though. i know they are not your garden variety alden laces that you get today (in raiders).

Thanks for the input guys. So, that's how we should wear them for total SA, I guess.

Those socks really look dark brown in the 2nd pic. I still insist dark brown socks are SA. :)

Mine came with a second set of laces too. Need to check those out.

I know the pants are wool, but they sure look like cotton twill in the pictures.

Top 2 hooks undone??? Wow! I just changed the way I'm gonna be tying my shoes!

So then are Magnoli's boot's laces the correct style? Thick, round, workboot laces?

In Christ,
Shane

I lace mine all the way except for the very top hook. Makes them a bit more comfortable, IMO.
