Hello, my fellow gearheads!! Just received this Kangaroo hide Indy Jacket I won at ebay... It's a discontinued Kangaroo Indy Jacket from U.S. Wings... It has a reddish brown color and virtually brand new. Don't really know how it's going to turn out after it gets destressed ( I think one of the previous owners of this jacket said it got real ugly with blotch black spots all over the place or somethng, but can't see any as it is pretty much brand new... I think someone mentioned that U.S Wings size is usually a bit bigger than what they say... I don't know if it's really physically big or what, but it sure feels bigger than a normal XL jacket to me, but mostly around the arm area... Waist and Chest areas feel fine... I think the stiffness of the jacket somehow causes the void within the jacket when you move around. It almost makes you feel the jacket is somewhat inflated or something... Overall however I can feel it's made of really tough leather. Hide feels like cow leather, but much lighter... Definitely not as soft and light as lambskin though... Hopefully stiffness will go away as I wear it a bit more and naturally distress it a bit. It is however, a very WARM jacket... Thank god Winter's coming... I wouldn't be able to wear this in the summer... Inner Lining is very puffy and and thick as well.... This thing is insulated to the gills!! If you want a bulletproof winter jacket, I think this is it.

Overall I am very happy with it, but I guess I will only wear this jacket in the winter... Have to get something lighter for the summer and fall... Anywho here are the pics!! Enjoy!!

Beautiful jacket! And a 'roo jacket, to boot! They're hard to come by and I understand they're really something, which brings me to saying this... Please don't distress that jacket! Wear it and let it age naturally. If it were a typical cow, lamb, or goat, I'd say have at it, it's your jacket to do with as you please. (It's still your jacket to do with as you please! ) But partially due to the rarity of this jacket, and since it's discontinued and you'll likely have a hard time trying to find another, I'd respect this jacket and just wear it. Keep the sandpaper and acetone away from this lovely jacket.

If you want a jacket to distress that is replaceable and won't break the bank, I'd suggest either Wested's off-the-rack as discussed here viewtopic.php?t=24068 or Puppetboy's off-the-rack lamb for $149 here viewtopic.php?t=24134 . But if it were my kangaroo jacket, I'd enjoy it and wear it as is.

Thank you for the advice everyone!! Yes, I am planning NOT to distress the jacket as I have read _'s last post regarding this particular jacket... However, I can't stop the natural distressing... Hope it doesn't get too blotch... Anywho, thanks for the suggestions on alternate jackets... I think I am going to go with Todd's lambskin. It's an awesome price... hope he has one in stock for XL... I think your 'roo jacket will age just nicely, gi. And good choice on Todd's lamb, from all I've heard about his jacket. I have a Wested lamb that's been beutifully predistressed (not by me, it used to belong to Rick5150) so if you choose to predistress your Todd's jacket, I'm sure you'll be able to get some great results.

I don't like the look of distressed jackets unless the distressing comes from real wear.

roo hide jacket....nice acquisition gi! that's strange that the tone is painted on as roo-hide whips are that colour. why is it black underneath _?

how'z about a pic to show off the fit. i remember thinking that texas raiders us wings jacket had large sleeves like this but the drape looked quite nice on him.
