Disney Indiana Jones Jacket

Post by indyfyfe »

Hey all,
I bought a Disneyland Indiana Jones jacket about 5 years ago. I have only worn it a couple of times. I don't know much about these jackets. It is the heavy leather version with a soft cotton lining. Can anyone give me some idea of what these sell for? I'd like to sell this one and get a Wested.

Thanks,
Brad

agreed with st. dumas. i wouldn't get rid of it as it is one heck of a nice souvenier. i don't think you would get enough to put a dent into wested's pricing unless you find a fanatic collector. my 2 pennies...take it for what its worth :D

It'd be cool to see a pic or two? Apparently some of them are Indy looking and some of them are a completely different design depending on when they were made.

That's the jacket I drove to Disneyland to get in 1995 only to find they didn't have my size.

I bought one of those back in 97 - 98. They were the first to nail the LC collar in my opinion. Next to my USWings Prototype, it's my favorite jacket. The cotton lining has really lasted well and it's been distressing great. I would suggest keeping it. of course if you have your heart set on selling it ... :-k what size is it?

Looks cool. Definately LC style, I'd keep it if it were me.

Hi Indyfyfe,

That looks like my Disney Jacket. I'd keep the jacket. It's always good to have for future reference.

Here's a thread that may interest you.

I'd also be tempted to keep it. However fife might be interested in how much he could get for it in any case. I mean, some people aren't nuts and don't own 2 or 3 or more jackets!!!

...present company (including myself) excluded of course! What size is it???....no...must... stop... buying... jackets! ](*,)

I too would keep the jacket... heck, even though I have a wested, I want one of those! You could probably get a few bucks off of it, probably enough to make a nice dent, though probably not completely cover, in the price of a wested. However, I think keeping that for free would be a better deal than even a greatly reduced priced wested, as its way more than close as far as design accuracy :)

Thanks everyone for encouraging me to keep it. But like Julian K said...I am only interested in getting a "cosplay" jacket. The size is Large. I am 6'1" and about 195, so it fits me perfectly. I might post this in the Cairo Bazaar.

Where do I find the Cairo Bazaar. I seem to have missed it.

Wow. Your jacket is much darker than mine. Yeah, Disney jacket. It's my only Indy jacket, too. I've been wondering if darkening it is possible, but I'll most likely leave it as is. I don't want Michaelson hunting me down. ;-)

There are pics of me wearing this at SDCC this year, with 4 other Indys. You can really see the color difference. The jacket is very durable, and has been through a LOT over the years. It's held up beautifully.

It's a really nice jacket! They banged out a good copy!

(Of course, one of the stitch-counters could probably pick it to pieces, literally and figuratively, but for those of us who think near enough is good enough... well, it's really nice!)

I reckon if you gave your jacket a good dose of Pecards, you'd get a nice surprise :)

I agree - treating it a little may provide some surpises for you. Not at all a bad Disney jacket. I've seen some horrific ones myself.

I remember the Indy jacket I saw at WDW over Spring Break... Was basically just a black leather jacket with ribbed cuffs on the waist and sleeves, and an 'Indiana Jones' logo on the right breast pocket...

Not S.A. at all... I wonder why they changed the design from the old to what is currently offered...

Still, if I could do it over again, I'd probably pick up a jacket anyway just because ;) :P

I like it too. The pockets are certainly better than many a Wested. I'm not a stich counter but I do like the jacket to be close to screen accurate.

Awesome tip on the Pecards! Is there a store that carries it, or is it an online order sort of thing? Also, the collar has a weird flip to the point. Any thoughts on flattening it?

I think the jackets are amazingly well made. Like I said, mine's been through a lot. The jackets they have now are cheap aviator jackets with the embroidered logos. They don't even sell the Dorfman hats anymore!! I doubt these jackets will ever be sold there again. Fyfe, for what it's worth, I would hold on to that jacket!

As Indy himself has said...

There could be an Indy 4 jacket released to take its place. But no more can be said - this is secret business.

Wow, for a jacket from Disneyland that sure looks great. I wouldn't get rid of it either. I wasn't aware that the "off the rack" Indy jackets were that nice. :?

As long as sleeping on the couch is something you like.

The last time I saw this style of jacket at Disneyland was back in 2000. The ones they were selling this summer didn't even come close to looking like a Indy jacket.

Weren't the Disney jackets the same as the Fan Club jackets? And weren't they made by Cooper (now US Wings) which made some jackets for ToD? _? Michaelson? Bueller?

I believe the early Disney jackets were left over Cooper stock, but those have long been sold by now.

That's pretty much my Indy Jacket, which I got in 1997. It's held up well over the last decade. At some point I'm gonna get me a Wested. A friend of mine has one and it's just a beautiful thing.

I do like this jacket, but the one thing is that it is heavy and hot. I'd rather have something light and more screen accurate. I am sure I will just get a Wested.

Yeah, the jacket is rather heavy. But it's warm on those chilly Halloween evenings. :-)

Disney seems to vary in their jackets. I think there's a pic of one of their older jackets on the Indy gear main site. If you get a chance, take a look at that jacket...it looks great for a Disney Jacket!

When I saw the stunt show at MGM studios, I was surprised to see how light brown the stuntman's jacket was.

Yeah I have that exact same jacket, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones like you lol The only thing I dislike about it is how heavy it is. When I got my cowhide wested awhile ago I was expecting it to be as heavy as the disney but, I was amazed how light it was.

I had one of those Cooper Disney jackets and sold it to buy a Wested.

Dumb move.
