Question about quality assurance

Post by TonyRush »

Hello all! It's been sometime since I visited the forum although I've lurked for years and needed to get a new screenname. Nonetheless, hello again!

Firstly, let me say THANK YOU to all the COW veterans who've provided so much information and so many photos of your jackets and other gear. It's definitely a huge assistance.

I've yet to order my Wested mostly because I'm still trying to decide what I want. When I think of the three movies, and all the options of materials, distressing, etc....there seem to be at least two dozen different permutations of what I can get!

My question is regarding Wested itself. I seem to notice so many posts and comments about missing button studs, misaligned seams, wrong length, etc.....I'm wondering what the issue is. Is Wested really this inconsistent in the quality of what they produce? It seems that -- given their unique position of being "the" source for authentic Indy jackets -- that they would strive to put out jackets that (barring variations in leather) are consistent.

So, I guess I don't have a question other than whether or not this inconsistency is the norm? Or the occasional exception to the rule?

Many thanks,

Tony Rush

I think the numerous posts on this pretty much answers your question. The one thing you'd have to say is that Wested has a huge brand loyalty. But again, you can read that in all the posts.

CM, actually the posts seem to point to a lot of brand loyalty -- and that's to be understood. I'm just trying to understand more of how so many people are reporting that they're getting a jacket that's not exactly what they ordered (too short, missing snaps, misaligned seams, etc.)

What is Wested's policy about these errors? Do they pay for return shipping and replacing? Or do most customers just keep what they receive because they don't want to wait for a replacement?

Thanks,
Tony

Welcome aboard, Tony! Truthfully, members equally speak of their experiences regarding errors, shipping, and replacing of product within the very threads currently beig discussed. I suggest reading through those threads carefully and asking your questions in those same threads. I think you'll find most of the info you're after is there!

I just wanted to add that I just received my first and only Wested predistressed LC and had NO problems at all with the process.
I placed my order through the website on a Friday and received a confirmation of my order on Saturday. I asked for one additional custom item and Gemma replied a day later.
I received my jacket barely 4 weeks later and everything was just as I asked. The shipping only took 3days!
My advice is to browse carefully, as my fellow COW's will tell you, but use the website for placing orders. When I called Wested, they asked that I use the website for better service and they were right.
Best of luck in your search.
Cheers,

I think it's like many things in life, Tony, you hear about the "bad" and never hear about the "good" half as often, even if there's far more "good" than "bad". So let me throw in another "good" story -- when I bought my Indy jacket (which was one of the first horsehides, if not the first, off the production line), there were absolutely no problems with it. Absolutely spot on.
