Well I am a few weeks behind on giving my review of my new IOAB, but I have only had dialup internet usage lately and that has kept me off the boards.

I got my IOAB a few weeks ago and immediately went outside and started cracking. It was about 106 degrees that day, but I wasn't going to let my whip just sit. It took a few tries before I got the cracks going but when I did it was great. I even had the overhead crack working for me. This is a great whip and I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks Adam!

ongrats on you whip. What leather is it made out of?

The grain looks exactly like my 8' IOAB, and it's cowhide. One of the reasons they can be made so cheaply.

Hey...the whip looks great kev and sounds like you are well on your way into breakin that sucka in. Is this your first whip? What whips have you played around with and how do you like this one compared to the others? Again...nice buy.

Bendingoak - Strider is correct as the leather is cowhide. The only difference in my whip from the normal IOAB other than length is that I asked Adam to give me a different color than he usually uses on the IOAB. I liked the look of Fatdutchman's whip so much that I asked Adam to use the same color on my whip.

IG - I learned very quickly that even a "weak" strike from the whip hurts! Crack with care is very good advice.

Dostacos - You'll be very happy when you get yours. It is a solid whip. I waited a bit for mine and was ecstatic when I saw it sitting on my front steps.

ydam - This is my first "Indy" whip. I've had this whip http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m94/ ... G_0874.jpg since I was about 11 years old which would be 15 years. Both whips are 10 footers but my old whip is a bit easier to crack. That could be because it is broken in, but I think it is due to the IOAB being a quality whip made from thicker leather and therefore being a bit heavier. The IOAB does have a much louder crack than my old whip and while it took a bit to get use to the weight of the IOAB, once I got a feel for it things went great.

I am really pleased with the IOAB as both a functional whip and a costume piece. The IOAB looks much better in person than it does it pictures, I guess its a bit camera shy. It is a lot of fun to crack and it looks really cool hanging off the old gun belt.

I got a 6ft whip after talking to him, he feels it will be easier to crack and I am not that into SA and I will, at least in the beginning, cracking while seated so extra length will get in my way.

At any rate I know I will like it, because I can appreciate the workmanship besides, if I get good at it I will be able to carry it daily

I have an 8 plait 10 footer from Adam in what I believe is the very same hide. (Adam?). It was a little stiff at first but softened up only after a few sessions and now it cracks with very little effort.

I also think you get used to different whips and now I feel like I'm used to mine.

amen to that.....the things to watch for are the fall hitt'n your bare calves on an untimed throw (best to wear pants) as well as the thong hitt'n you in the head on an untimed throw....those ones aren't fun at all....funny look'n but not fun

That is the perfect phrase AC. I know that after I gave myself a backlashing I stood there very confused thinking, "hum...how did that happen?" I'm really pleased with this IOAB, especially the lighter color it just looks great.

I took "snappy" out today and cracked it a couple of times. I've got the forward crack down, but still need to perfect the overhead crack.

I'm still working on the overhead crack AC. Once I get the overhead crack down then I'll venture out of the box and try some other cracks. Hopefully that will be sooner than later.

How is your IOAB treating you these days?
