Hi all,

This may and probably has been covered before.

I've been looking at old and new photos from the past movies, and the present movie in the making (though the present movie has very little photos to go by). I've also done some research on Indygear, and have noticed that in some pictures the hat band looks black. The hat on the corner of the crate on Indianajones.com most definitely has a black band. Where the light highlights the hat, it is Grey in color. There are also pics from the other three movies where its the same situation. My theory is that maybe some hats had the dark brown, and that some were indeed black.

I've been thinking about replacing my dark brown band on my Acubra Fed with a black band, but before I do this, I'd like to see the opinions. Your thoughts are appreciated.

VERY Drak Brown! You can order them from Todds in 1 meter lengths for 1.99 each. I'm like a human advertisment sheesh!

hj's and ab's and i believe the akubra's (can't remember mine) all have very dark brown ribbons. its hard to notice but what is more noticeable is a black ribbon on a brown hat (ie baron hats' cliffhanger fedora).

the indy iv ribbon is dark brown as well. don't let your monitor fool you.

I think Steve and Marc have answered this qetion long ago. Since they have the vintage HJ ribbon. Dark Brown.

I've already gone to Todds, and ordered a hat brush, his dark flat brown ribbon, and a new bag strap, my old bag strap bled onto my Wested shirt, luckily I got the stain out, but I don't want to go through that again ) .

To me the ribbon on the IJ4 hat DEFINATELY looks like a dark brown!

I sourced the original supplier of the ribbon used by HJ back in the 80's and Steve and I have been using it ever since. This particular ribbon DOES look black on some occasions and brown on others. That's what makes it so easy to tell appart from other ribbons.

P.S.: If you take a look at the AB-Dlx. in my avatar, it definately looks black, but it's not.
