Hey guys, do you think it's safe to take a needle & thread and make some kind of X through the box? Since, I got hold of sliders (thanks KT) and replaced the D rings (old pic, can't find camera).

The only thing that bothers me (not a whole lot but just a little) is the lack of Xes in those sidestrap boxes.

If you were to do it, how? what kind of a pattern would you make? What kind of a needle would you use? I figure, since it's Lamb that it would be pretty easy to pierce with a needle. Or am I wrong?

You'd probably have to unstitch the lining a bit first, unless you don't care about that and sew right through it.
Other than that I'd use a small needle and make marks on the leather first in order to get the stitches evenly spaced, obviously using a good color/quality matching thread while sewing.

Hm, I wonder what the marks on Wested-Made sidestrap X-box look like.

My only concern would be getting the lines straight with a hand needle. A good tailor probably wouldn't charge you more than 20 bucks to do it properly with a machine though. Something to think about on what I'd consider a 'valuable' jacket.
