I guess while I am in a posting mood I will put forth a photo of my new regular Federation.

I was trying for a Young Indiana Jones style. I ran across this photo of a hat FEDORA made for this gentleman, and I really liked it.

Akubra makes a great hat. Also since I didnt put the tight pinch in I have a little room to work with in the future, should I try for another style.
I really like this look and may holler at FEDORA for an Adventurebilt in this style to go along with my Raiders style AB.

Great look, I love it. Usually I just like the "real" Raiders bash, but this looks very nice to me :!: :!:

That actually looks awesome! I am a strong Raiders bash supporter but this is a very decent bash man! Might just bash my next hat like this!

Right before I read the kind of bash you were going for, I said to myself: "Looks very YIJC." Well done, Arkansas, well done indeed.

Did you have to do anything to your brim to get it to go down or did it just snap down? I got mine yesterday (post akubras thread) and I think i'm gonna use the distilled water to get it to lay down.

No Indycop, all I did was work the brim in my hands a little and it snapped
down like you see in the photo.
As to the bashing I would try dry bashing first, I did have a little discoloration on my side dents from using water there. After wearing the hat for awhile you do not notice it now. Also I sprayed Scouts Rain and Stain on it.
What style are you going for on your New Federation?

The only real preference I have is to end up with the tight pinch. Other than that I'm not too picky about it. I did try to work the brim down but it seemed to ba alive. I put it down it comes back up. I ended up using distilled water this morning before I went to bed. It still doesn't drop that much. When I wet the brim on. My PB it went right down.
I must say though it is definitely softer that my PB.

Indycop - you've got an ornery one there. Just don't let it win! Show it who's boss. If you sit to watch tv for a while, wet it and hold it down while you watch tv for a while. 5 to 10 minutes should do the trick. As for the tight crease, if you want to do it dry (to avoid discoloration from the water) you should work at it slowly over a couple of weeks, until you've trained.

Russell I must say, you've really captured the YIJC look. Way to go!

I finally got the brim how I wanted and my wife says I should make the back droop instead of curling up! so I worked at it for awhile and now it can be worn curled up a little or drooped. It just snaps either way without affecting the front!

Out of my dozen hats (mostly vintage) my girlfriend (who is not keen on hats) says the standard Federation looks the best on me. Yours is excellent!

I have never liked the pinches to be so widespread. This is the first time I've seen it where it looks very attractive to me. In other words, that's some fine shaping you've done there!
