Collar question

I have a new Todds jacket in Lamb. Love it. I was wondering if there's a way to make the collar have slight curl to it so it stands up a little, as of now it just lays kinda flat. I tried looking for a thread that describes how to do this, because I thought I saw one not to long ago. But my search turned up nothing. If anyone know how, please give as detail descrption on how to do it or link the thread if you can find it.
Here's a pic of what I mean.

I believe Whipwarrior devised a way to fix it involving curling the collar over a tube or dowl, wetting the leather a bit, then holding it all together with rubber bands and allowing it to dry.....but I'm working from memory and one cup of coffee this morning.
You might want to do a search under the posts of Whipwarrior and see if anything shows up, or drop him a PM. He checks in every so often.

I'm sure a few others have developed techniques that work just as well, and hopefully they'll chime in directly....but his is the one that fired out of my brain cells this early in the morning.

I have the uswings goat and it had the same flat collar issue... I got the entire jacket very soaked and curled the collar with my hands (as well as crumpling the jacket body) This worked great! I'll try to post pics...

I just wet my collar and used paperclips to keep it curled overnight. I was afraid to keep them on too long as I didn't want it to form a crease. At first it was a little creased but the curl relaxed nicely. I also put on some scrap material under the clips to keep them from scratching the leather.

It will conform to your shape over time - and repeated rolling/crushing with your hands. Water will accelerate it, but be careful as it will alter the finish on that lamb hide. You might soften it by wringing it with your hands. Don't worry, you won't hurt anything.
If you look at the temple scene in Raiders - his collar is exactly like that. The similarity of your collar is not by accident. It just feels a little weird at first.

Thanks Todd I'll give it a try, I'm not looking for a lot of curl, just a
little.
Thanks again, I love this jacket, have I told you that yet.

My prefered method; Just wear it. It will happen on it's own, especially if you don't baby it. My Wested Lamb was just as flat when it was new, but it's starting to curl a little now.

How long Chewie did it take for the curl to start. I may not be babying this jacket but it also won't be worn as much either, my Wested Goats my main jacket.

no offense Todd.

Well, I've had it about a year now, and I've been pretty gentle with it. I hang it on a hanger, not throwning it in a corner as many of us gearheads do. Also, I have not worn it a whole lot because I've pretty much been unemployed for the last year. Thus, I don't leave the house every day like most folks. Ultimately, my one-year break-in can probably be cut in half for most people, maybe less. I don't baby my jacket, but my life is very tame.

I must say though that it really doesn't look bad at all as it is. At least yours is even on both sides! My lamb's collar can't decide which way it wants to go!

Am I the only one having a hard time visualizing this? More specifically, the rubber band part...
