I mostly wear polo type shirts [that was for work, ties are a safety hazard, and it was really hard to get our cloths horse administrator to accept it
]
anyhow I don't feel real comfortable wearing a knit short sleeve shirt with my hats, what do you guys wear shirt wise?

T-shirts work fine with my hat. The only times I wear my hat is when I go out of town or traveling, camping, etc... I wear brown skating shoes most of the time so the hat never mismatches what I wear.

I wear the exact same stuff I wore before I started with these hats - jeans or simlar, shirts, sweaters in the winter, blazer-type jackets (wool or cotton depending on season).

Khakis and button down cotton shirts. That's what I always wear, hat or no hat. I also wear my Aldens as my day to day shoes.

I wear t-shirts and jeans, button up shirts and khakis, polo shirts and shorts, leather jackets and Sketchers shoes.....heck, I wear anything with my fedora.

With a straw hat, a Hawaiian shirt. With a felt hat, button down shirt (no polos) jeans or khakis, and leather shoes/boots. All color coordinated to match the hat, of course. I don't have any plans to get Alden's, so I just wear my brown Corcoran paratrooper boots.

I usually wear clothes, but recently I have found my self wearing nothing but a towel and my hat to the showers in the dorms.

If the day ends in "Y" - I wear my fedora. Monday ends with "Y," so it's another fedora day...
Right now I'm wearing khaki pants with a khaki sweatshirt, and my fedora. It's a very George Stone look. I have a picture of me here somewhere with a pair of red swiming trunks and my fedora. My wife calls this look "fetching," and very "hot."
She also says "Paws off, Girls... he's mine," a lot.

I think that generally, if you're wearing a fedora you should have a shirt with a collar. Long pants and long sleeves too- it's alright to roll the sleeves up though.

I wear my fed with whatever I am wearing. I just try to pick the best color. I wear my gray fed with things that go well with gray, and I wear my brown fed with clothes that go better with brown.
I think it goes well with polos, shirts with collars, t shirts, long sleeve, short sleeve, and with suits. It goes well with jeans, khakis, dress pants, and on some folks in certain circumstances, it even goes with shorts. Ummm, did I leave anything out?
Oh, and on occassion, I also wear it with a certain brown leather jacket. It goes especially good with that.

well khaki shorts with knee socks would work like the Brits in North Africa...my problem is most shorts that I wear are almost plus fours and the knee socks leave all of about an inch of leg between the shorts and the sock
being short NORMALLY does not bother me but this looks just funny

Is it really bad form to wear a pink party dress with your fedora? Or should I post that question over at FL?

but recently I have found my self wearing nothing but a towel
Well, like the guide says: "A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitch hiker can have."
However, for more terrestrial use I've worn my hat with pretty much anything except shorts. I refuse to wear anything but a baseball (or Tilley hat) with shorts!

I never thought I'd read a quote from that book here

I don't have a problem wearing straw with shorts, but I shy away from felt hats and short pants together.

My clothes. The only thing i don't like wearing it with is a sports jersey.
Other than that, I wear it with anything. T-shirts (clean or sweaty). Shorts. Suits. Dress or casual shirts.

Prairie that first looks like all you need is an old tommy gun and you could photoshop into that picture of the untouchables!
I didnt know what a brown fedora would look like with a black outfit but that looks good.

I agree! I think that first picture by the river is the best I've ever seen in this forum.

Check out the Finger Lakes Summit and look at all the albums. Everyone who's wearing a fedora looks great with it what ever they're wearing. Right now, I swear on all that is good that if you carry off the attitude (Like our pal Prairie who has a wardrobe I've always wanted...) you can pull it off.
But, if you feel self conscious about wearing a fedora, you'll never look good no matter what you're wearing.

I think Renderking hit the nail on the head. If you feel like it belongs on your head, it will look like it.
Thanks for the compliments.

I wear suits to work and my AB looks really good with them. I have a black Brooks Brothers overcoat and, unexpectedly, the brown hat looks just grand with it. I think it is the dark brim that makes it "go." I live in Manhattan and work here too so the 20 minute walk to work is just great when I have my AB with me!

Alaska Smith - You're going to have to post pictures of that look of yours. Sounds pretty sharp. I hope to get enough people to post their looks to encourage others to do the same.
I'm also working on
a special page dedicated to my latest trip to Manhattan with Cooler King and I might want your advice or commentary on a few things. It's a shame we didn't bump into you while we were there.
