YAY!!! My first SA piece of gear is on the way! \:D/ Kevin Endicott is a GREAT guy to work with! Recommend him to everyone looking for a bag...Kev describes the color as 'mid color but more towards green' :-k I wonder what it will look like...I'm partially colorblind so....I couldn't tell green from brown

Anyway it ships tommorrow from England. Im guessing about a week til I actually get the bag.I cannot wait 8-[

Hey Robby, congratulations on the new bag. I got one from them and it was great. Mine was a mint W&G unissued.

Don't worry, as long as you can tell gray from brown fedoras, you'll be okay! #-o ](*,)

You'll be pleased with your Endicott's bag. I asked for a dodgy, "not so great" bag, and I was stunned by how good it looked. One gentle washing and it was almost new!

Hi Robby,
I'm sure you will be very pleased with your Endicott bag! The one I got from him was in much better condition than I could have even hoped for. I am very happy with mine!

Be sure to post pics when you get it

NO!!!! 15.95 GBP (approx. $32 USD) was the price of mine!

Compared to other vendors that is the cheapest you're gonna get :D

It's a pleasure to do business with Endicott's and their bags are truely great. I am very convinced by the quality of the bag I just recieved. It looks brandnew! Can't believe, this thing is more than twice as old than myself:

Good to hear Robby!
I'm looking forward to the pics

Mine had a pretty strong "military surplus store" smell when I got it. I hung it outside for a few hours, and after a few days or so, the smell was pretty much gone. I just didn't want to risk having something go wrong in the wash.

Best,

I wouldn't dare put the bag in the wash. I just threw mine in the tub wth some detergent, swished it around, and rinsed it out. Clean and unharmed. Plus, it gets the that gray sand stuff out of the pockets.
:D

Does anybody elses have two little strings in the small pockets on the side and the one under the flap?

Oxyclean sounds like a good idea :D

The one under the flap was to secure an anti-dimming kit (MkVI for the MkVII bag) put down that pocket. (A small tin jar with a loop on the lid to put lanyard through it). The one opposite to the metal disc held the lanyard stuck down the pocket which would go around the soldier's waist when wearing the bag in the ready position. (Actually with the flap facing inwards, i.e. towards the chest).

Looking good!

In a condition like that, this is me speaking, I wouldn't worry about washing it.
Use it for a week or so and the "Au de WWII storageā„¢ scent" will not be as evident.

That's a VERY nice bag you just got hold of. ;)

Swindiana

Beautiful bags people.
For anyone wondering if it's possible to get rid of the creases, Kevin told me to try placing a wet handkerchief over the creases and iron over it, gently. I haven't tried yet. Be sure the handkerchief is wet when you iron over it.

For what it's worth...I picked one up just the other day. After the US conversion rate, it was around $42 shipped. Mint, unused condition and it got here in a week...much faster than I thought. Only minor thing is that it's a 1942 PSC version. Why do I mention this? The front snaps are different from all the others I've seen. They aren't smooth, but have a rough texture and a small "lip". Kinda weird. I'll probably just leave then as be, but the thought has crossed my mind to replace them...we'll see. BTW-Kevin was very pleasant to deal with and would highly recommend him.

Can you show any pictures of the snaps? I've seen several not smooth ones and I've always loved them.

Jedidentist;

Do they compare to the top one in this shot?

Image

If so they are "Newey" ones and somewhat sought after, and I'd keep them if I were you. They were the standard snaps until sometime around 1942 it seems when the flat ones start showing up.

EDIT: Link to back of snap HERE.

Swindiana

Looks like #2, but I don't have the bag with me here at work...only my MK VI which has much more useful pockets. I probably won't change them because i would make more of a mess than if I just left it alone. I've been screwing around with these bags for years and i'm sick of it...I've got 2 Australian MKVIIs and an MKVI that i had to dye...stunk!

Couple of pics...

What's wrong with that? It's a real beauty to my eyes, in every detail

Nothing wrong...just an accuracy thing, I guess. However, do we have any pics that show the details that close? Eh...I'm sure a couple of the bags had these types of snaps anyway...
