What current/common s&w models are close (size and shape -)to the cut HE2 of raiders?

s & w is making (remaking) their 1917 model. all you need is a hacksaw to get her down to 4" and you have yourself a very nice indy gun

I'd be rather reluctant to hacksaw the barrel off a new expensive firearm, but that's just me.
Used S&W M&Ps and later model 10s cane be had for a resonable price, they're K frames a little smaller then the N frame of the HEs and 1917.
I just picked up a M&P last Friday, I was going to go to the range Sunday and try it out but had a minor plumbing problem in my kitchen. Bob.

in my neck of the woods, a used one in good condition is just a tadd cheaper due to their historical value. they are also quite rare finds......the next time i see one, i'm buying it on the spot and telling the gunsmith to fire up his saw

i was speaking metaphorically i wouldn't hack a barrel off with a hacksaw....i'll leave it to the gunsmith to get her down to 4"...i don't care how he does it, just make it look pretty in the end.

Maybe i'll go to the next gunshow. They got good deals there.

Nice, prices are a bit higher here's in CA. I'm watching a set of grip like those.
Most folks can't tell the difference between a N and K frame Smith and Wesson anyway. The Vintage N frames are out of sight price wise, but the 38s are still out there for a reasonable price though the ones in very good condition are getting pricey.

I just picked up a S&W .22 LR caliber handgun just the other day that is a dead ringer for Indy's gun. In fact, it even comes with a 4" barrel, which makes it perfect in my book!

The only thing that it's missing is the lanyard ring, and the fact that it's a different caliber... Otherwise, it's perfect!

This is my "close enough" Indy gun, the model 19 (K frame) in .357. The one pictured is not actually mine, but mine looks identical to the one with wood grips. Picked it up just last month for $300
