OK I have been searching the forum for over two hours and maybe I just don’t know what I looking for…
Can I ask for some help please? With all of the different styles of hats (AB) people ask for what are the defining differences??
I mean what makes a Raider raven bar different from a Cairo? Or the grab scene different from the jungle scene?
AND
What are the major differences in the hat from the three moves?
And having said all that what style did you get your Adventure built in?
Thanks in advance

Ghost, read through this entire sticky at the top of the Fedora section and that should help:

As far as differences in scenes, well, it's just that. In Raiders, the hat takes on different characteristics throughout the movie. The Ciaro hat looks the most beat up to many (with the mushrooming of the crown going on there) while the hat seems styled a bit differently at different points of the film. People keep mentioning that the Raiders hat was "turned," providing the warp in the brim, however, the hat is not turned at the beginning of the movie, so technically you can have a Raiders fedora with or without the turn and it's still correct.
Some very basic differences in the hats between the movies are as follows: Raiders had a very tight pinch, straight sides, and (often) a turned brim; ToD the hat was very tapered with a more relaxed pinch; the LC hat had a more relaxed pinch, higher up the crown and arguably looks the "dressiest" of the three. As for what hat you should get, the best thing to do is watch the movies and figure out which hat YOU like best, and go for that style. Just because most everyone else goes "Ciaro" doesn't mean you should. Personally, I like the opening sequence as well as the Well of Souls hats of Raiders.

Great advice so far!
I definately agree you should find a particular scene where you like the look of the hat the most and try to match that. Almost every scene in each of the movies shows the hat looking slightly different, so there isn't ONE style per film.
These are two of my favorites, but don't go with the flow. It would be mighty boring around here if everyone styled their hat the same.

There is an option I rather like, which some of us call the "hybrid" styles. Basically, you combine elements from different scenes or movies to get the hat you want. My AB is a Raiders (straight high crown with wider brim and the turn), and is styled as an idol-grab hat with a slightly gentler pinch - some would say it's a Raiders-LC hybrid. I have another Indy hat (JPD), which I tried to make very non-specific; wide brim, no turn, LC pinch, but straighter crown than an LC. I have a Well of Souls AB on order. It will be my first SA bash on any hat.
So, have fun with it. Pretend you're a mad geneticist whip up something new if you want. You might surprise yourself!

the hat is prestine and unturned before he gets into the temple but as you see from wolf's pic above, the hat is turned in the idol grab scene....not so much but his center crease does not line up with his nose. in the raven bar, the crease is lined up which gives more of a pronounced turn....IMO of course.People keep mentioning that the Raiders hat was "turned," providing the warp in the brim, however, the hat is not turned at the beginning of the movie
the hats are a lot like MacGyver's swiss army knife. every time he pulls it out of his pocket it has a different set of blades one time it might have the screwdriver the next time the cork screw, it gets big, then smaller....binkmeisterRick wrote:Ghost, read through this entire sticky at the top of the Fedora section and that should help:

Is there somewhere I can still view the pictures from Pagey's contribution to that thread? They don't show up anymore. I'm certain this has already been asked recently, but I can't find it.binkmeisterRick wrote:Ghost, read through this entire sticky at the top of the Fedora section and that should help:
