Back of the brim

If you are going for a "dress" Raiders look, perhaps an Idol Grab or Raven Bar, do you snap the back of the brim down or leave it up? I have seen a bash tutorial that leaves it up and it looks okay that way, but as I examine the movie, it seems more like the back of the brim is snapped down.

the back of the brim is flanged (curls) up in the earlier scenes of the movie with the left side rear brim (around 7:00) kicked up higher than the the right hand side.
as you get to soc, the curls go away from the felt being so worked in and the brim is almost flat in the back.
those are my observations
