Well, I finally did it. I chocked up the cash and decided to buy the NH pants as I decided that I had wasted too much money in "replacement pants" and none of them worked for me. I have to say, I LOVE the NH pants...gorgeous material, perfect drape...yadda yadda yadda. BUT...unfortunately, they have those stubborn creases in them. I know there was a thread about this a long while ago...and I would love to know the best way to get rid of these creases...do they iron out? Are there any other techniques to getting them out?

I know that the NH trousers do say dry clean only, but I washed mine and the crease comes out straight away. Give them a good iron and they look immaculate but without the crease, no sign of it what so ever.

Alternatively, take them to a dry cleaner and ask them to remove the creases for you.

I took mine to the dry cleaner, and after they pressed them the first time, WITH the crease, I has serious reservations about it coming out, but when I told them they did it wrong, they repressed them and there is no hint of a crease whatsoever.

Also, if you want to try it yourself, my mom-in-law suggested 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water in an iron to remove creases in dry clean pressed pants. HOWEVER, I didn't try this as I'm not as experienced in these matters and didn't want to ruin them.

Also, a little hint Lee Keppler passed on to me (if you already haven't hemmed them yet) is to hem them about 4 inches from the bottom of your leg measurment. This'll keep them from snagging on your boot teeth.

Someone (I think it was Indy Prince?) sent me a message awhile back cautioning against machine washing wool. He said that washing with water and detergent would remove the oils from the wool and dry it out.

Here is what I do.
I use a spray bottle with water and lay the pant on my ironing bord. I pull the leg width ways to lesson the crease, give a light spray just to dampen and then iron. No more crease.
You could also lay a light rag slightly damp over the pants and then iron.

When I asked my dry cleaner for no crease they came back with no crease on the front. It was on the side.

You could use that Dryel stuff too.

That's easy. Take them outside, drape them over a wrought iron glider/rocker, and hose the legs down on both sides. Then hang them over the shower curtain rod to dry overnight. Presto- good as new.

I just took out the ol' Iron, set it for wool and just simply ironed them. I did try to make sure I didn't burn "shiny spots" into the wool. If you're not sure about it, just put a tee shirt or something in between the iron and the pants....

You know, reading over my previous post, I'm struck by the silliness of it. Half the time, Indy's pants have holes in the knees! Go ahead and iron 'em. Hose 'em down! they're supposed to look beat up!

I love this place. That tip alone solved a problem I've had for over a year -- those darned side creases from the dry cleaner. Thanks, Canasta!
