for those who have one, do you carry it daily?

You know, I always wanted to get one, if only to stuff it into my Wested handwarmer pocket and never use it again... or at least until I need to set a Nazi castle on fire

I usually do if I'm wearing my Wested. I learned my lesson the hard way. Once was trying to start a campfire with cheap matches. The last time was when a cute Italian brunette asked me for a light. Oh, to have been able to pull out my lucky lighter.

Daily, nightly, ever so rightly.
Being a dirty rotten smoker, I carry it always. Nice conversational piece too.

In point of fact, it's in my right pants pocket this very moment.

Bottom line: Have it. Use it. We're not short of replicas.

I don't smoke, so it would be a useless thing to lug around. I have it on display with other Indy props.

I carried it around for fun, since I don't smoke, but it started scratching so now it is just on display and used for lighting candles...and sometimes almost setting my apartment on fire!

I'd like to get one.......I know I'd carry it with me when camping, and maybe sometimes out in public (my motto is "Be prepared"....never know when you'll need a lighter).

I find myself in need of a light often and when everybody you know is a non smoker, we all look at each other with funny looks on our faces.....

I don't have an Elsa lighter, but carry a normal BIC lighter so I can finish off fraying ends of ropes and strings at work.

I have a LC Wested and it's kept in the left pocket (of course).

I have one and have the flashlight insert for it. So it gets used on an almost daily basis.

And when I smoke cigars, I just pop in the lighter insert.

I don't carry mine around...It just sits on my desk, which, I guess, makes my desk have more Indy character...or something like that

I use it everyday but don't really take it out of the house much. It stays on an end table to use and look at. When I do take it out people get fascinated by it. Relic Raider does such great work I get offers to buy if off me, and I have to watch over it carefully for thieves...

I agree with balsho...Relic Raider does an awesome job on these lighters! He is THE lighter man for sure!

I don't have a Lucky ligther, but I do carry around a replica WWII black crackle Zippo....its still looks right with the gear even if it's not totally accurate.

I love the Zippo lighters but never could never justify carrying it because I do not smoke. You meniton a flashlight insert. Is this made by Zippo or is it a 3rd party that makes it? How is it as a light? great idea if it is bright enough.

They're called ZipLights. Relic Raider used to offer modified/"hotrodded" ZipLight inserts with better bulbs, etc., but since ZipLights are no longer produced, it comes down to whatever old stock he can find as to whether you can get one from him or not. I carry one in my bag, and it comes in quite handy.

You guys are great, fast AND funny! Not sure the last time you checked the state of the US dollar was but it is almost par with the Canadian dollar. Used to be the Canadian dollar was worth about 65-70 cents of the US one. Now it is at 95 cents and climbing! (Must be all our oil...) WHy do you think I want to cash in on this and get a ziplight!

I would carry my Zippo, but my mom threw away my lighter fluid thinking that there wasn't anything left of it. So my lighter is dry.

I keep mine on my desk at work, so even though i dont carry it with me everywhere it still gets displayed for not only me to look at but also anyone that comes in my office.

I carry mine every day in my right pants pocket. Alongside it, I carry my Hubertus knife and a British two pound coin I picked up while in London last summer. Just in case I randomly wake up on an adventure (I keep hoping) I'll have my knife and lighter ready to go and at least some money in my pocket.

That's pretty neat. I just got my Zippo and have kept it dry because I don't smoke. Since they discontinued these a while back I will have to search the auction sites for new old stock ones.

Scroll down that page. He still HAS inserts that he 'turbocharged' with LED bulbs, and they ARE in stock (or were as of a few weeks ago) Those are listed as the 'Modified' lights on the page.

The ones that are out of stock are the originals.

Now that my ligter has fuel, I take it everywhere. It's my lucky charm.

For a while there, I carried mine all the time for work - because Relic Raiders makes - or made, anyway - another insert: the ZipLaser. For a while there I was briefing a LOT at work, and I kept my lucky lighter in my pocket so I'd always have a laser-pointer. He might still offer this option, I don't recall, and haven't looked lately.

I only smoke a cigar once in a great while, though, so I couldn't see keeping it full of lighter fluid...not sure if this is common in less arid areas, but here it would go dry in a week or two whether I used it or not.

But I plan to take mine cross-country to a family reunion next month - now that the TSA has lifted the restriction on carrying them as of Aug 4! Woohoo!

How bad do the Elsa lighters scratch? I'm thinking about getting one but if the print comes off easy, what's the purpose?

The RR badges don't lose their shamrock, it's embedded in the resin. The question is how much does the resin scratch? (actually, I'm not sure if he still offers the all metal badge, too. those might have the shamrock on the surface.)

at one point he had comparisons of his resin, metal, and hybrid (metal plate w/ resin over it) badges for comparison of weight, ruggedness, etc. if you search on 'relic raider badges' you should come up w/ something.

I've had my lighter for a couple years now, and it's occasionally ended up in a pocket w/ keys or change, but not intenionally. I think I even dropped and dented the case once, if I recall. I've got the hybrid badges, and they are sturdy. They show minor scratches all over it, but they are not very visible on the resin, and it's not like it's cloudy or hides the shamrock, you actually have to tip it toward a light source to tell that it's scuffed up at all.

Anywho, I was actually looking at a zippo (not lucky charm, just plain silver colored) and considering buying it, because it could always come in handy, even though I only smoke cigars (on occasion) and can barely stand to ever use a lighter with them. However, I may just have to go the extra mile and get a relic raider. And I would probably carry it daily, if not on me, then in my car

If you've already got a zippo you don't mind converting, he might also still sell just the badges. You only save something like $10-15, though, the base cost of the lighter, so to me it's smarter just to have HIM put them on to guarantee they are right. but it is (or at least used to be) an option.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, I see on his page that he DOES still do just badges. $30 domestic, $34 international.
