Gussets on a Wested?

Hi everyone - I'm compiling a list of features for my first Wested. I'm intending to get a goat LC and I was just wondering what everyone thought of gussets. Do they really make the big a difference in mobility? Would simply asking for a larger armhole do the same thing?
Thanks for the input...

In theory, gussets would lessen the amount that you jacket rides up when you raise up an arm. Better mobility and all that. I just ordered a Wested and specified the gussets. Heck, they have to help some.
But we need to hear from a current owner. Fedora
Honestly...

I don't think that there's anything that a well constructed jacket can't to that gussets will do better. I've got two FS jackets with 'em and a Wings and Wested without 'em. They all give me about the same range of motion. The FS jackets DO offer a bit more freedom of movement in "awkward" positions (like reaching behind the seat of a car to retrieve a sippy cup that has been tossed in the floor by a fussy 2 year old girl, for example), but this could be due to the way they construct the jacket and not specifically a function of the gussets.
Bottom line....I think you're going to get alot of different answers here. Me? I don't think they do all that much. and I don't think the LC jacket had them either, so....
Later!

Just came off the phone with the people from Airborne Express and they will deliver my Wested goat LC tomorrow so I'll let you know.
Kind regards

Hey, Doctor Jones - must be pretty exciting knowing that your jacket is just down the street (well, more or less...) I look forward to hearing your report!
Thanks as well to Indydawg and Fedora for your input. There's so much to think about. Before I started thinking about getting The Jacket, I never knew anything about how clothes were put together. Now, I'm paying much more attention to everything - jackets, pants. I've even gotten more conscious of how my socks are constructed!

I agree. My Expedition had them and I am ordering my Wested with them. But the big one for me is that they were on the screen jacket.

Woo, I haven't posted in a long while...
My Wested has gussets. I've noticed that they make the jacket a little easier to slip on and off. They also keep my sleeves from riding up my arm too much while I'm driving.

Wow - I didn't expect any more replies after the thread had been here so long. Thanks, Fiddler and Joe, for your input!
