Akubras or rabbit HJ's pretty much get the job done properly, same with ToD hats.
I've found through experience though that only beaver felt hats can really nail the Raiders look. Rabbits just don't hold the creases.

All Akubras come open crown. You have to bash them yourself.

That being said, if a ToD/LC hat is what you're going for, you'll get results from a Fed/Fed Deluxe that are nothing short of perfect! 8)
I've got a costume party in three weeks and I'm going as the 'end of Tod' Indy. I wish like crazy I still had a Fed for just this reason! #-o
As it stands, I'll be wearing the PB instead. :-

Peters Brother's Borsalino, or the PBBM gets my vote for most accurate LC fedora, and it's not because I'm biased about the name either.

I'm not so good at bashing hats so the akurub might be out of the qeistion. Unless there is a tutorial on how to get the LC bash.

It's easy, mate! :D
All you need really is to do is whack on the ol' DVD player and pause LC in scenes where you find the hat the most appealing. Then make some of your own indentations in the crown until you're happy with the result. You shouldn't require any steam or water for a LC bash, as it's fairly easy on the felt.
Remember, it's all a fun learning curve so have at it and enjoy! 8)

IndyFan, bashing a hat really isn't as hard as it sounds. The Akubra is a great hat and easy to bash. You're not going to hurt the hat, trust me. If I can do it, anyone can do it. There were a couple bashing tutorials floating about at one point, and even though they were for the Raiders bash, all you'd mainly have to do for a LC bash is to relax the front pinch.

Oh, and leave the hat un-turned. 8)

(It's a 'Raiders' hat thing.)

IndyFan, here are a couple threads worth checking out, though not all the picture links work anymore. Still, this should give you a good idea of the basics of bashing a hat:

viewtopic.php?t=13911&highlight=hat+bash+tutorial

JohnNdy had a good tutorial, but apparently the posted links no longer work for his site.

Also, if you look at the end of the FAQ sticky at the top of the Fedora section, the text to a good bash tutorial is there, too, though the images are no longer linked.

Nope. No turn for ToD or LC, but it still gives you the basic idea for bashing a hat. As C.A. suggested, find some good pics of the hat you want to emulate and tweak away.

And, do not forget the Pagey/Aeris Canon tutorial. IMHO, one of the best on shaping techinque. You can find it using Google."
