Bag question

Post by RobbyT43 »

I found this bag while searching for British Army Surplus stores. I think that the olive green version would be a good replica for me to buy. I am really cheap and have a tiny budget. This would end up at around $50 including the shipping.

Any cheaper alternatives have appeared "not authentic" so to speak. Anybody else have an opinion on this? Should I buy it or get a real MKVII?

Personally, I have found that a non MKVII bag didn't satisfy me. Magnoli has his repros as does Todd's and WPG. They have decent looking repros and sometimes WPG lists originals on that major auction site. Myself, I got 2 bags from Endicott's and each time cost me about $50, my most recent one about 2 months ago. Do a search for Endicott's and send an email and you can have the "real" Indy bag. (Unless # IV changes it)

The Todds and the WPG are the same, and other than the super cheap strap they come with, the bag is really nice and looks even better after some distressing, mine is getting pretty worn on the inside but has been used as my book bag for school for about 2 years so I couldn't expect much more.

Magnoli's is 60 with the strap (unless im reading the page wrong) and I wouldn't expect anything less than perfect coming from him.

Id say in my own opinion that you get Indy Magnolis https://host385.ipowerweb.com/~indyprop ... 1e31d96970
And then just use the heck out of it, you will more than get your moneys worth and you will get everything all at once.

Ive always felt the bag is one of those things you cant get a good close enough of but thats just me. :D

I looked up all of the threads with "Endicott's" bag. Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that they stopped selling them last June. I have sent Kevin an email asking if he still has some. Hopefully, I can get lucky [-o<

Yea, Kevin ran out of stock, but a few months ago I inquired and he did let me know he found a few more. I got mine 2 mos ago. It inn't a W&G but it is the exact color like in Raiders and per fect condition. Give him a few days to a week to get back to you. He's really great to work with.

I just placed an order for a MKVII with Kevin @ Endicotts. He had stock, and said it should be arriveing shortly. the price was about $50 with the shipping included. Jerry @ WPG is about the same price, and he usually has stock as well. Happy Hunting

Hi Robby,
Good to hear from you and great to hear the good feedback we seem to get with your group !
Re the MKVII's we price according to condition. Most (90%) of the Bags shipped to the States are our very special 'hand-picked-from-hundreds' quality for £21.95 inc first class shipping.
I can pick you a very nice example for £15.95 again inclusive postage.Or a really rough one (not recommended) for £12.95.Our in-store price starts at £2.50/spares and repairs only.

Let me know if this is of interest and if not for immediate delivery I'll lay one aside for you.

Kev
I got this email from Kevin today. I think I will go with the 15.95 one in good condition. It rounds out to about $32 which is a steal.

Hopefully I can scrape up some money by the end of July or August! I just finished shooting Kevin another email asking him to set aside one for me!

Ebay is always a good place to check. When I got mine a couple years ago there was this seller on there who had gotten a hold of some MKVII's that were basically brand new they had never been used, it was an awesome find. I think I paid somewhere between $50-75 for it.

That's a going rate, but there's got to be some out there cheaper than that. The prices quoted to Robby are pretty darn good, and Endicott's seems to be pretty reliable.

Robby, I'd go w/ what Kev's offering. You'll be lucky to find them much cheaper unless they don't know what they've got there.

That's not a very accurate replica, but I guess it will make a good fill-in. I've seen those on eBay for a while.

I nearly won an unissued MKVII on eBay the other day. It was wrongly listed as a US bag. I was outbid by a penny with 2 seconds left! #-o

Sold for $44.01 in the end, I believe.

The eBay shots of it doesn't seem to do it justice either, and I know some people are quite happy with it.
Take a look at the photo in the link below of Rab's bag. Looks good to me!

Be sure to posts some photos of it when it arrives, if you could. ;)

Here you go right here, this is what I was talking about. Great deal. This is the guy I bought mine from two years ago, can't beat the price and they are the original and never used.

[Mod Edit: No eBay links allowed. Use the PM function for this kind of info. Thanks!]
