Hey that is really pure beauty! I have heard nothing but good things about his Whips and had the chance to wave about with Jan's which was heavy and easy to crack.

Cheers,
Red

Thanks guys! I'm very happy with how it turned out. I've sent Bernie an email back though, asking about maybe shortening the handle before he ships it to me so it is a little more screen accurate (this handle looks longer than 8"). Haven't heard back yet, but I guess we'll see.

Not much you can do about handle length at this stage. The only way to shorten the handle area is to move the transition knot further back - but that would mean part of the chessboard braid would extend beyond the knot.

Bernie said he'd be happy to cut the handle down to size and put a new pommel knot on it for me. He said he didn't really think about it because with his 10' whips he normally puts a 10" handle on them.

Oh well, there you go - problem solved! :D
I know Bernie has a rather different construction method to mine.

Here's the altered whip! Much more Indy-like! I'm ecstatic! It goes in the mail tomorrow morning!

Just signed for and picked up my whip from the mail room today! Boy oh boy is it a piece of work! Even better than I expected it to be! Bernie, like always, included extra falls and crackers plus his HOUR LONG instructional DVD on basic cracks and whip care/construction (which was really cool and very interesting!), but he also included an 8.5"x11" laminated and autographed print of the above posted picture. I thought this was a very nice personal touch. Not only that, but the pommel of my whip has a brass (?) knob that is engraved with almost the exact same information! This was very unexpected and a great surprise!

I had a chance to throw a few test cracks tonight, and after getting use to the extra length (my next shortest is an 8-footer) and density (FOUR plaited bellies!), she was sounding off like a pistol! I've got a nice 4-day weekend coming because of the holiday and I am definitely going to get some practice in with her!

Bernie, if you are reading this, THANK YOU very much for a great quality whip and for giving great customer service! I finally have my Indy whip, and it's everything I hoped it would be and more!

Glad you liked the whip Ryan and I'm happy to be of service. When your cracking the whip make sure your not to close to that fence otherwise the other side might get the wrong idea. :D
Kind Regards
Bernie
