Whip holders - One size fits all?

I don't have a whip holder, yet, and was wondering how well the whip holders will hold different length whips. It seems like the longer the whip is, the more coils you'll have and the larger the whip holder needs to be. Is this the case?

Thanks!

Yes, that is the case. And I'll just tell you what I've found....Lee Keppler's Raiders gunbelt rig, with the whipholder permanantly attached to the belt, fits my 8 foot Paul Stenhouse perfectly. I've got another LC style whipholder that is a bit larger and I think would fit a 10 footer better as when I walk with my PS whip in that holder, it flops around and comes loose. I've been thinking of having it shortened, but just haven't gotten around to it yet as it's been too wet around here to get out and use the whip anyway.

Hope that helps....

Benn Scott at www.whipartist.com sells a whip holder that is specially designed to hold any length whip tightly. It's worth checking out

And I can testify that Lee Keppler's whip holder works on any size whip from 6 to 10 feet. I haven't tried the 12 footer on it. As far as slippage of the whip while it's strapped in the holder, there are several solutions:
- line it with a thin rubber material
- line it with a thin rubber cement
- or strap the whip handle right into the whip holder
