Hey, I was wondering if anyone could give me that website that sells Aldens for less. I remember seeing it and going to it but I couldn't find the thread it was posted on. Thanks!

www.shoecentral.com used to have aldens listed on their site. I just checked and they are no longer listed. I emailed their sales site to see what the story is. When I get more info, I will post it here.

Well I am going to reveal my cheap source. But here it is, it's Renners Boots and Shoes. They sell the 405's for $244.

Ha! Holding out on us like that. I hope Shoe Central hasn't stopped carrying Aldens. I got mine for $233 and that included shipping.

It was a great deal.

Subject: ALDENS

Certainly, we sell ALDENS in our 3 retail stores.
You can continue to order ANY style of ALDENS from us.

We have had some conflict with ALDENS regarding advertising on line
and we have temporarily removed ALDENS from our website.

Please let us know if there is anything we can help you with at this time.

Thank you for inquiring.

I have talked to Ernie in the past and he was really helpful. They way they work is to email them about what size and style of shoe you are interested in and they email you a quote and a secure link to order them.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Pyro.

Yeah, I can see why Alden's gets upset. Sometimes a manufacturer wants standard pricing without discounts to all their retailers/distributors. It creates a level playing field for all the merchants and it gives the manufacturer a prestige that their products are not discounted. The same thing happened to Renner last year. They were advertising $199 for the 405's and Alden's gave them a warning to stop selling at that rate.

And then of course the little guys upset, like our friend Fritz. Fritz is the guy that originally sold Harrison his boot when he was a simple carpenter. Fritz is upset that the internet has disrupted his business. That why, just for a few bucks more, I would rather give him the business. He is really, really, old school and quite a loveable character.
