Hey All,
here's a few pics of a review of my “Hungarian WHIP”
In the first picture we can see the old whip, so I decided to improved my whip in some part:
THONKG KEEPER: I have added the leather fringe and I put the standard Indy knot on the keeper.
THONG: I have changed the old thong 60cm long with another 8 plait of calf skin 170 cm long with a red little knot.
HANDLE: is a shaped wood 38 cm long,
LENGTH: 175 cm (in measuring of the length of this whip, the handle and the fall are never considered).
Features: core - belly – bolster – 8 plait overlay
Regards
Gio

My relatives are from Hungary and Yugoslavia and I had a couple of these as a kid. They were all destoryed by me though, playing Indy, which I now regret. My Gramps told me they used butter or other fats to soften them up. I'm told my aunt still has an unused one which was made at least 20 years ago or more. I gotta ask my Mom to get on that for me and see if she'd wanna give it up. I'd gladly display it.

Dan,
Thanks a lot for the compliments.
I think that the art of whips and whipmaking include also another style of whips, maybe little know compared to the classics better known whips “Bull – Stock – Snake” .
Cheers

Your welcome giovanni. I agree, there’s a wide variety of whips covered through out the world. While we tend to cover the big three here, its nice to see other styles from across the Globe form time to time to learn a little about the history and cultures those whips come from. Though for the sake of this forum we try to keep our focus on agricultural type whips, and less on whips used for punishment unless someone wants to start making replicas of the Temple of Doom Cat-O-9 tails and floggers! Hmmm That would be interesting...
