Yet Another New Todd's Raiders Jacket**Replacement Arrived**

The big brown truck just drove off.... Look at what I found on my doorstep

:
The jacket is just fantastic! It fits like it was custom made for me. The cowhide is supple, and has a great smell. The lining is very well done, and the details are EXACTLY what I wanted in a Raiders jacket.
Out of 2 Westeds, and 2 U.S. Wings Indy jackets, the
Todd's jacket is now my official favorite of them all!!
I have to thank
Todd for keeping on top of the order, and staying in contact with me.

This is the kind of service that I like and expect. VERY well done
Todd.
Can't tell that I like it huh?
Anyhow, it is too hot ATM to take pics wearing it, but I will do that soon, and post some up.

Nice jacket Technonut.

How come the collar doesn't go halfway to the stormflap on this one? I thought that was standard on the Todd's jacket?

It's a beaut., Tech! Best pictures I've seen for a clear look at the hide. I can hardly wait for mine!!!! Thankfully, it's summer... that should keep my eagerness in check.

Yep - Mine does...
I didn't even notice that.... Must have slipped by the seamstress. Now it's going to bug me until it is corrected.

I'm sure that
Todd will take care of it though...

D'OH! Sorry, Todd.

I was just askin'. In Todd's defense, the edge of the storm flap is very well rounded. I wonder why Wested has such a problem doing this. The rest of the jacket looks fantastic too. Pocket flaps rock fo' sho'.

I would answer that with laziness. Well maybe not so much laziness but also partially it's much harder to do a rounded edge than a straight edge. Out of the Westeds I have owned and seen, some have been more rounded than others. It may all just depend on the person who is sewing it. As we all know, Indy jackets are a side thing for Wested anyway. Just looking at that old storm flap collar thing. Five out of my six Indy jackets, the collar and storm flap meet half way. The one that doesn't is my Wested authentic lamb from 2004.

D'OH! Sorry, Todd. I was just askin'.
You just had to go and ruin it for him, didn't you? (just kidding!!!)
I'm puzzled about this - I don't really know how it happened. I'll have to go back to the security tape and see whose fault is it.
I've offered to make a replacement for Technonut. Now I'll have a nice 42 regular jacket on the rack for someone who doesn't mind a slightly un-screen-accurate collar. (No waiting - anyone?)

Thanks
Todd...

I had no doubt it would be taken care of. It is really nice to not worry about expensive international return shipping...
Well, second time lucky huh? The replacement jacket should be THE jacket for sure.

I will continue this thread when it arrives...

Great looking jacket!
The zip looks brass coloured? Is it or is it silver? I thought Todd was doing silver zips...

How 'bout that rear panel? It looks like it doesn't go all the way to the sleeve seem. Is this how these jackets are made?

The zipper is a nice, silver YKK....

Yeah good question.
I think it's supposed to go all the way to the sleeve seam.
Right?

That is correct
PLATON.... There are detailed pics in this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=20372&postdays=0&postor ... &start=100
Below you can easily see how the yoke seam is placed abo ve the arm seam and how the back panel extends all the way to the arm seam. Also notice the very narrow action pleat.
I suppose I will e-mail
Todd about it....

There is about a 1/4" space on either side of the back panel before the sleeve seam....
_: Does your jacket's back panel have the same 1/4" gaps as mine?

TN, i hope you get those inaccuracies resolved....regardless, it looks very very nice. that cow leather is looking better and better with each one that is posted.

Regarding the zippers, they are silver - kind of yellowish silver, not the bright white-silver of an aluminum zipper.
Regarding the back panel, this has been discussed to death, and the hero jacket had an off center back panel. The left side came to 1/4" before the sleeve (right next to the sleeve seam's top stitch) and the right side actually came to the sleeve seam, and the top stitch was somehow done around the edge of the panel (not a very neat arrangement and most likely a mistake). I'm making them with the back panel meeting the sleeve top stitch. It doesn't interfere with the top stitch and is better construction.
Pull out your DVD's and check it out. Check the cave shot with the spiders (left shoulder), the air field shot behind the barrels, and the truck chase where he's on the grill. 1/4" from the sleeve.

Hey Todd, whatever you do it'll be wrong :!: Great looking jacket!!

Hehe I just thought the same. That's maybe the reason why Wested won't change the Pattern to offer a total SA jacket. Because when something on the jacket isn't 120% screen accurate. They will get the jacket sent back.
Technonut I would keep the jacket as it is. The collar looks good to me.
Just wear the jacket and it will get even more character. When you're searching for flaws, I'm sure you will find it on nearly every jacket.
Poor Todd and the Attack of the Indy Clones

Thanks, Lee! Don't worry, I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it! I look at this project the way I look at all of my others - I do it because I WANT to - I like the movie and I like the jacket. And I do it the way I think it should be! Not everyone will like it, and that's fine with me. I'm very used to it.

No problem
Todd...

It was another thing that I would not have noticed if it were not brought up.
The jacket is on it's way back... I DO appreciate you exchanging it for one with the collar placed on the stormflap the way it was intended by you....

1/4" is not bad at all. Even I'm not that anal. I couldn't even see the gap in the pics above. The back panel looks just fine to me.

Well, the replacement jacket just arrived, and I must say that
Todd has really hit this one out of the ballpark...
I was NOT expecting to have the back panel spacing changed, but then I received an email saying something about changing the pattern to make it work... Talk about above and beyond..

Anyway here are the first set of quick pics.. I will take sone wearing the jacket and some with more clarity ASAP...

Well, according to the rules here:
viewtopic.php?t=21315
You may not post more then 6 photos per thread.
Where an extra pic or two isn't usually a problem, it's been the actions of a few who spoiled it for everybody. It's a great looking jacket, Technonut, and it looks perfect on you, but my suggestion would be to keep a number of key photos and post links to the rest of them. For instance, you could post links to most of the close up detail shots that might be a little redundant, as well as some of the multiple front shots. Not trying to sound mean, just trying to get used to my job.

But again, that jacket looks fantastic!

It actually was very cool in the morning here and I was able to wear it some without sweating to death..
I am impressed with the leather and construction. VERY well made, and VERY nice leather.. I have no doubt it will hold up well. Time will tell, and I will be sure to give updates.

The jacket is tagged a 42. I am 5' 11" and currently weigh 200 pounds.
I specifically asked
Todd to give me whatever size had the closest to a 48 inch outer chest circumference. I have a 44 inch chest, and only wanted 4 inches of room...
I will try and get the pic you want later today...
