Looking for new boots

Hey all, I'm in need of a new pair of soft toe work boots. I have Alden's but I need something thats more comfortable. First, I ware them all day so I need light and comfortable. Second I use chemicals so I need durability and third, non slip. I like the look of Alden's so they can look like them. I don't like the big hiking style. Any help would be appreciated with brands, styles and where to find them. I went to my local Red wing store but they only had two pair in my size
I like the feel of the 606 but hated the look.
Cheers,
Jeff

If it was a true Red Wings dealership, they should have been able to order absolutely anything in the Red Wing catalog in your size for you.
I know that's true in our area.

Doc Martens are very comfortable boots and shoes, and they seem to last forever as well. They have a very cushiony sole, so standing or walking in them is very comfortable. If you get the "greasy" finish(basically oiled and flat in color, as opposed to shiny.) they feel already broken in,..nice and soft.
Something like these, perhaps:

Hope this helps.

If you're okay with ordering online (or if you've got a really great local shoe store that will size/order for you!), check out what Chippewa has to offer. They're usually very fairly priced (~$125-$200) and the quality is amazing. You'll probably be able to find a style you like, and nothing beats genuine goodyear welt construction!
If I had the need for something like what you're describing, I just might go with these:

Grr...there was my attempt at a hyperlink. Still can't get it right
Oh, and Michaelson--can a 'genuine Redwing dealer' order the models that aren't normally offered on this side of the pond? I know there's been some discussion recently of some really spot-on Redwings that aren't offered in the US, I wonder if you could get _those_ ordered thru a dealer like that.

Although I can't vouch for comfort because 1) I don't own them yet; 2) I have a problem with my feet, so not much is comfortable anyway...
but I found (and posted) several from bamason.com ; search "950" and "866" on their website.
I also just ordered LL Bean's "Katahdin Iron Works Engineer Boots" which look like Aldens with a different toe and grip on the soles that don't mess up the look of them like most workboots do with the lug soles. They are back-ordered to July, but I will post a review when I get them.

So I was going to order the BA Mason 950s this morning...they discontinued my size
They Start at 8 now
So much for those who have smaller 7.5 feet. The search continues.
Cheers,
Jeff
