How are bag straps measured?

Now that I have to get a new strap for my bag, I'm curious as to how they are measured. Are they measured from tip to tip, or does the measurement include the "loop" once it has been attached?

I'm 6'3" and am going back and forth between Todd's 65" and 72".

Also, anyone know a good source for longer web straps, like what was originally on there?

Thanks!

My guess is that you'll be best of with the 72" The buckle should be just about center on your chest with the top edge of the bag just below your belt. At least that's how I recall it.

Best regards,
Kim

How are bad straps measured?
Similar to good straps, but cut a little short so that they don’t look or fit quite right.

I'm 6'2" (188cm) and wear a 72" Magnoli strap.

You can always shorten the strap if it turns out too long at 72".

Is it more expensive?

My Todd straps are 72", tip to tip of leather (so the folded loops count). No doubt about it - you'll need the 72"!

Oh, speaking of Todd's straps, I recently bought my second and I noticed the leather is thicker and stiffer than my old one. So, if people had concearns about thinner ones they may have seen being too weak, there has been a change.

72" most definately. Anyone over 6' should get that size. That will ensure proper placement of the buckle on the chest.

I'm 6'4" and even a 72" inch strap is too short for me in order to center the buckle and get the bag to hang where I want it. (I suppose it also depends on how long your torso is compared to your legs and how low you want your bag to hang.)

Hopefully it will suit you great, though a tip could be to make a "string dummy" first and measure how long you need the strap to be for your needs.

Swindiana

I want it to hang just below my belt line. My torso isn't terriby long in relation to the rest of me, so I don't think it'll be that much of an issue. And, this is for daily use, so I'm not hung up on how it looked on screen. I'm not a costume type of guy. You'll never catch me dressing up like Indiana Jones, or anything. Nothing wrong with it if that's your thing. It's just not mine.

I LOVE vintage military stuff, especially WW II. It just makes for cool casual clothing. The bag also looks cool with a denim jacket...#### near anything. I much prefer the real deal as opposed to the overpriced "military inspired" @#$% that people buy from places like Abercrombie, or the Gap.
