Does anyone know if any of the vendors make an Indy Jacket replica in cloth in colors other than brown? I'd love to get another Indy jacket, but I'd hate to be a walking stereotype

US Wings has one in khaki beige with a brown collar. If you're interested I'd be willing to sell mine.

Make that 'had', ITG. It's been discontinued.

But they have them on their clearance jacket section last I checked, so you should be able to get one at a good price! I have a US Wings Cotton Indy in medium which FITS like a medium. I like it. Since these were US made jackets, I think that maybe the sizing is right on these. Still, it never hurts to ask them for measurements off of one, eh?

Walking stereotype...
I was at a party tonight all geared up. One of my best friends told me it was my usual clothing, only now you've got a bullwhip.
With that said, I usually wear my jacket and/or my bag only.
Man... Home at 3 in the morning, showing 50 people how to crack a whip and I loved every minute of it.
I bet Wested would be able to make it any color you want though?

No shirt, no shoes, no PANTS, no service!

Thanks for the comment Bink, I didn't dare it myself.
Wearing nothing BUT socks, that's when you get no service, ever again.
Oh yeah... Are you still referring to me be pantless at the one time? I thought we had forgotten about that...

I'm pantless in my avatar.
Somewhat on topic, were/are there any other makers of a cloth Indy Jacket other than USW and Wested?

No. Wested totally refused to make the cloth at the beginning, and Wings accepted the challenge after the Indyfan member 'Fallguy'and I made the suggestion to David Hack after Peter's refusal. I give Fallguy TOTAL credit for coming up with the idea in the first place. I just joined him in the effort to see if these could be created for our crew.
They made the one you see in the sale (and you own, bink), but didn't want to get into the colored cloth, leaving it at the khaki colored version , and missed our group a LOT of potential sales from our group. No one really WANTED a khaki colored cloth Indy jacket.
Several years later Peter decided to make them, and made them very well. The only 'misses' was he needed (and STILL needs) to replace the D ring on the side strap with the rectangular version, as the cloth slides easily through the D ring.
He also needs to upgrade the cloth to something a lot tougher. I've owned my cloth Wested Raiders since the beginning of production, and just from wear and tear from regular use really shows on this cloth. It also fades badly. The cloth under my collar is still the nice dark brown as it arrived...the rest has faded to half it's color with just use and two dry cleanings. A stronger, more color fast cloth would be a MUCH better choice in my opinion.
I'll admit, my cloth Wested gets the most wear of any jacket I own, so my field report is based on HOURS of wear and YEARS of use....and probably not anything anyone else would experience for several more years of use on theirs. That said, you CAN expect this kind of wear after a while.
The cloth also gets a bit 'fuzzy' (not terribly) after it's first recommended dry cleaning.
Like I said, one of my FAVORITE and regularily used jackets....but it could still be greatly improved with a hardier and more color fast cloth and replacement of the D ring. Otherwise....wonderful jacket!
The Wings jacket is one of those great 'what if's' for me in this hobby. What if they had offered the jacket in other colors? What if they had actually done the jacket in the correct and requested dark brown? What if they had actually made an entire jacket from the washable leather that the collar is made from, creating a leather Indy jacket that was comfortable, leather, and actually wash and wear?
Instead, they stopped right at those development points and left it as you see, and sales fell FAR below possibilities. I hope Peter someday addressese those issues mentioned above. He'd sell a lot more of the cloth Raiders jackets, I'm sure.
