Possible BOIC Replica -- Your Opinions Wanted PLEASE READ

Folks

The only source I have ever found for the BOICs has been online and it is FramesDirect.

My local optometrists had never heard of them and didn't have them listed in any catalogues. So as far as getting any more information on BOIC going out of business, unless FramesDirect can provide a reason, I'm not sure where to turn.

HOWEVER, I see no reason why replica BOICs could not be sought. And I don't mean alternatives -- I mean actual replicas.

Before I approach anyone about this, I would of course like to enlist your opinions.

If I can source a frames manufacturer who might be interested (I have one in mind) I presume we would all favour an accurate look at reduced cost? Silly question, I guess, but there will be some who might want the same materials and standards as BOIC (because we are talking about bespoke product, this might drive the price higher than the real BOICs).

Anyway, let me have your thoughts and an indication of interest, and I'll make my enquiries.

Cheers

AS,
What was your opinion on the alternative recommended by Framesdirect? You know the "Berkshire Chase", model "English Beaufort P2".

Aren't these #### close?

They look pretty close. So do the Berkshire Chase Pantos (14KT).

Some better pics would, of course, settle it.

I'll keep looking about, and in the meantime hope to get some response to my Sticky.

Cheers for now

Well of course count me in. I already have two BOIC frames, but I'm interested in preserving the accuratness if I need backups to my backup. :-)

I would be interested. Somebody here said that it's good to have more than one of items like glasses. Even though my Berkshire chase's are on order, I would like to have a pair I could carry in my shirt pocket like Indy does. Not where I have to keep it in the protective case all the time.

Just my $.02.

Count me in for a replacement set. I have one pair of the BOICs, and if they are going to be my ONLY pair, I want to keep them for "special occations" and will need a "daily wear" pair of specs.....

Folks

I'll take this as a general 'no interest' response.

There may, as other posts have suggested, be alternatives. Until we get any feedback, I'll not make any approaches to the company I had in mind.

Cheers
