Here's another 10ft i just finished. Not as heavy as the last one, pretty much the same dimensions as my Morgan.

Looks great! I love how the circumfrence above and below the turkshead is the same. Mr.Morgan hasn't done that for quite some time now and that's the only thing that irks me when I see his whips.

How do you keep the circumfrence uniform? Do you add an additional strip of leather over the spike to widen it up a bit?

Well, without going into a long essay on whip construction - the first bolster serves to balance out the size difference between the handle section and the first belly. I think Mr. Morgan begins the braiding of the first and second belly earlier than he used to, which is why his whips have the swell at the beginning of the thong. Of course Bernardo is the guy to ask, having worked alongside him. Bernardo and I have exchanged many a long email regarding whips and Mr. Morgan's working methods. I've now arrived at a construction than I'm happy with, but that is slightly different to M. Morgan's way. Obviously the standard 2 bellies, 2 bolsters and overlay is the same - but some details of the working process are different.

I really like it, NICE =P~ I assume it roo?
What do you do to stretch the leather prior to braiding and do you braid tight or loose?

High regards,
Kim

Thanks! It's not really my favoutite colour, but I received a batch of these hides and thought I'd use them up rather than return them. One more whip to go in this colour.

Yes, it's roo - I only use roo. I stretch each strand by hand after cutting - sometimes, depending on the greasiness of the hide, I grease them before stretching. I try and braid as tight as possible - this whip really doesn't want to stay coiled, which I regard as a good sign.

Very impressive work.Congratulations.
I would like to see your work up close. What do you reckon the weight is on the 10 footer?

That's a good question! It feels a little heavier than my 10ft Morgan. I don't really have any accurate way of measuring it though.
