Anyone order a GB Expedition recently? I got an e-mail after ordering, price is up $40.
I can understand $ increases, but they should update their website.

Did you get the e-mail about increasing the price AFTER you placed
the order, and your order was accepted for a certain price for your jacket?
If so, thats pretty sleazy to increase the price after you gave the o.k.
to the order.
I could see if they told you during your order process that there was
a price increase, and you had the option to either go ahead with the
order or cancel it.
Can you imagine if that happened to you in a restaurant? You have
just paid for your meal, put on your jacket, and you are heading
twards the door, when you hear your waitress say, "Oh sir, I am
sorry, but even though the bill said your meal was $35.00, and I have
already charged your credit card for it, the management tells me that
you have to give me your credit card back, and we are going to charge
you another $20.00. Sorry. I know the menu said it was $35.00, but
we just changed that about 30 seconds ago, so you have to pay more."

Um, if you purchased the jacket off the website based off the price there, and they charged you extra after you placed and processed the order, then that's false advertising. They should honor the web price. If they sent you the e-mail regarding the price increase BEFORE processing your order, then that's another matter. But I think they should be obligated to inform you of the difference in cost before taking your money. That way you still have a choice not to place the order. Either way, they should update their website.
I bet you could push for the web price if you were firm about seeing the price listed differently online. Major stores have to honor lower prices if they mis-advertised them in the paper, so I don't see why online companies should be any different.

If it is advertised for a price on the net or in a catalog, my understanding is they have to honor that price. It is illegal to change the price from the current catalog and especially after an order. This runs along the lines of bait and switch tactics. Call them and ask them to honor the agreed upon or advertised price.

EXACTLY! And while you're at it, you should ask them how incredibly hard it is to change a few numbers on their website.
Rediculous.

Try contacting Alvin at G&B. I know he got at least one jacket through at the old price last week.

So what IS the price of a new Expedition now? I've recently been thinking of getting one but I've always considered them to be prices too high..now, they've gone up? woah..

I was also curious of the EXACT reason for the price hike. Not conjecture, but the real reason.

Hi everyone -- I'm new here and have been an Indy fan since 1981, when I saw Raiders as an 11 year old.
I'm the guy G-MANN is referring to who got the goat Expo jacket for the Web price of $408, plus shipping. My original rep would not help me, and an email to the sales manager went unreturned. For both the goat and the lamb, the price has gone up $40, but I was not given a reason.
If it weren't for G-MANN's tip (thanks again), I would have probably walked away from the deal because I got way too much of a brush off from my original rep. I'm sure, however, that these are just isolated incidents with an otherwise great company and manufacturer. The bottom line is they should either change the Web site, or honor the price with very little arm twisting.

Not so isolated. EXACTLY what happened to me. Sales manager never returned any of my 3 phone calls.

I don't know the reason, however from what I was told the price increase will be on ALL thier jackets and not just the Expedition.

So it's now $448 plus shipping unless some rep takes mercy on us. I may have to brush up on my groveling

From what I understand, G&B honors the web price if you order it on the web. If you call in your order, you get the higher price. The prices increased at least two years ago (if not longer). The catalogue with the M-422a on the cover has the current prices. I think that catalogue has been around probably closer to three or four years. They really should do something about their customer service.

Hey guys, Thanks for the support. They didn't process my order as yet, but asked me if I'd like to "continue" my order at $448. I figured I would call them and say, "The price is $408 on the web ad!!" I'm not one that enjoys extensive diplomacy,or wheeling and dealing, but I shouldn't have to do that. I decided to buy it for the advertised price. If they refuse, I'll probably just tell them to forget it. I feel like I'm pushing the envelope at $408 for a jacket as it is. Plus I have a very servicable USW Indy goatskin anyway.
Also,as Agent5 mentions, what's the difficulty of correcting the price on the website? Sounds like it been incorrect at least a week These are products that sell for 100's of dollars! I've had experience with other internet vendors with price discrepancy and in every case they've honored their posted price. Wasn't "customer service" one of G-B's virtues? BTW they also raised the shipping to $11.75.
Oh well......... I just feel kind of snubbed by GB. You don't have the extra cash? NO jacket for you!!!

I placed an order with G&B on Friday via their web site. I used the price shown online. Today I received my confirmation email, with no mention of any additional cost for the jacket or for shipping. If anything changes, I'll post here. I'm also curious to see the Expedition in lamb, having once owned one in goat.

You received an e-mail today with no increase? Interesting.... Which sales rep do you have? I was unable to phone them today, will try tomorrow.

Come to think of it I haven't seen many Expeditions in Lambskin, I wonder how it compares to Wested's Lambskin - which I feel is a bit "lifeless", for lack of a better description.

I think that probably somewhere in their site there is a line saying
"Prices are subject to change without any prior notification"
or something like that.

Thanks Webhead! The welcome is much appreciated. Are you in Jersey or Colorado?
Regarding the jacket -- I'm really anxious to see the Expedition. I was told it might be finished this week. This was a huge investment for me (even at the Web price) and represents selling off several items from another hobby, so I'm hoping the fit is good. It has been a nerve-racking wait.

I live in the Colorado Springs area. I've lived here since 1987. Before that, I was born and raised in New Orleans, La.
Loveland is a beautiful area -- one of my favorite locations in Colorado.
Sorry for going a bit off topic guys.

Hello All,
I've been contacted by Gibson-Barnes and they have agreed to sell me the Expo for the web listed price. I must say, they were very prompt and considerate with the matter. I was wondering before if the whole thing was an omen to not buy,but they do appear to be excellent jackets. Thanks to everyone for their support, and allowing me to vent my spleen, so to speak!
Let's let the whole issue be a lesson to others. I will now relax and watch game one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Go Pens!!

I just want to add that I bought an historical horsehide A2 from Gibson & Barnes about six months ago and they're customer service guys were very frank with me and told me straight out that ordering it via the website would be a lot cheaper as per the website prices, whereas telephone and mail-in orders would be the new higher price. I went ahead with the online order and got it at the lower price.
They were very helpful to me and I hope they don't raise the website prices.

As it should be, Garzo. As it should be. They seem to be hit or miss nowadays in the CS dept. Years ago they were the best.

Garzo- I was wondering if you could pm me about your HH A-2, I was thinking about getting that exact jacket since I already own a goat A-2.
