...I JUST RECIEVED MY LEATHER JACKET FROM WESTED!

This is my second Wested, and my first Indy jacket. I must say the fit is absolutely perfect! Both jackets took exactly 5 days to arrive, though my second one was delayed due to my Spring Break travel plans.

My first jacket, a size 38 custom horsehide, had a fit that I was very satisfied with, though the shoulder padding made it feel militaristic.

However, this Last Crusade Auth Lamb had a fit that was even better! A size 40 80's fit fit the bill, and thankfully skipped the shoulder pads! But the best part being the pockets... From keeping an eye on the forums, I grew more and more anxious with regards to the pockets, though I must thank St. Dumas for alleviating those fears.

Once I ripped open that package, I realized that he was right. The pockets don't look distractingly huge in person. If anything, they actually compliment the size of the collar quite well! Though I'll probably be ordering the new Raiders Authentic somewhere down the line, this jacket is everything I had hoped for!

The bad news though is that the sides of the jacket look unusually billowy for whatever reason, especially with my arms raised. And the gussets which I had requested were ignored, though I'm assuming I was charged for that (since no receipt was given). And I'm just rather upset that the jacket (especially the collar) has become heavily creased from the shipping, and the ensuing waiting in the mailroom. Usually this is a bad thing, but I'm one of those rare folk that actually like a pristine looking jacket ;)

Hmm... anyone know how to fix a creased lamb collar? Oh, and out of curiousity, I have a wide wooden hanger that I'm using for the jacket, but the edges are relatively sharp, not sloping... Is that alright, or should I use my cheap and narrow padded shoulder instead?

And let me be the first to say: ;0 But I'll fix that soon enough!

Congrats indeed! Always nice to welcome new Indy jacket owners to the club.

And there are some of us who say that the best way to store an Indy jacket is to throw it in a bunch on the closet floor... no hangers needed.

Thanks guys!

As promised, below you'll find the pics... I believe it's a size 40 w/ 80s fit, but can anyone tell me if I should tighten the side straps? I'm wondering if the chest size is a little too big? Pics of Indy's jacket (chest size speaking) seem a bit wider, exposing more of his shirt... Feel free to comment!

good god that fits you great.....as if you were measured up by peter himself. great jacket!

indy was wearing his jacket back more and off the shoulders a little which is why you see the pleats on his shirt sometimes. the drape of the lamb he had also helped with this as it was very worked in and drapey.

That's the most perfect fit I've seen in a long time. Just wait till it gets broken in. You'll be happier than you are now and your jacket will have some stories as well.

That's because Castor Dioscuri has the best body type you have seen in a long time.

However, although I like a fitted jacket like the one pictured below

Image

I fail to see any connection of that jacket to the screen jacket.

See below photo to understand what I mean.

There are lots of other photos, I have them at home...

What I am trying to say is that I am starting to seriously doubt that the 80s fit is screen accurate.

Opinions please.

No jacket is going to look like the movie jacket when new and right out of the box. Everybody looks different in the jacket. Terry Leonard didn’t look the same as HF (if you really look). It’s been said here before, but I’ll bet that you could give many here a screen used jacket and they’d dismiss it as “non screen accurate”. Cheers

this whole '80's fit' thing has always perplexed me. primarily because out of the 3 wested's i own, i have no idea which is and is not an 80's fit persay. i can probably guess that my TOD jacket is an 80's fit as it is the slimmest fitting of the 3. but it looks like the TOD jacket, not the raiders jacket. the only similarity i see is in the length as i believe the raiders jacket to be about the same length as the TOD jacket. you can really see this on how the backpanel/side vents sway around at the opening scene with the mountain.

the 80's fit in the shoulders is closer to TOD, not raiders. it's my opinion that if you wanted a raiders jacket to look screen accurate from wested, you should probably order a size up in the chest and ensure that you get the TOD length, all this with the 80's cut.....and stay well away from leather facings. IMO leather facings ruins an indy jacket and whoever requested those in the first place should refund me for 2 jackets.

Thanks for all the positive feedback, guys! Being called as having the most perfect fit really made my day 8)

I'm still in the pampering stage with my Wested, but considering that it is as soft as a cloud, it's not hard to see why!

It is, I believe, an 80's fit, or at least that's what I requested. I myself am a size 37, and after reading on here that Harrison Ford was a size 38 and went with a size 40, that's exactly what I did for myself... And I'll let the pictures do the talking ;)

Oddly though, the other jacket I have from Wested (a custom horsehide) is a size 38, but it seems to be somewhat bigger than the Indy jacket. Also, that jacket drapes a little more like this picture:

Image

...Or at least the way the jacket wrinkles up. Must be because of the stiffness of the horsehide is my guess.

And I should also mention that even with the 80's fit, I believe the waist still feels a bit too bell-shaped. When standing still, it has a tendency to create a balloon effect... Or maybe that's just because, as most of you have pointed out, it's a new jacket. I thought about toying with the straps, but decided to leave it alone for now... But I'm open to suggestions! ;)

Now I've got to go order me a Raider's Authentic! It's official, I'm now a real Gearhead ;)

I don't know what you gave as your measurments, but you hit them perfect and it shows in how well your jacket fits you. I wish I would have not been so generous with my own measurments. Those sleeves are very slim looking and the collar looks really good too. NICE JACKET!
