those are racing leathers. very robust and meant to take serious abuse as they are needed for protection.
those would be too stiff for an indy jacket no? i would think that you would get a bad drape out of this lot.
it does however give you some nice indication of the different grains.

still looks too new for my taste. i like real distressing, not only in looks but in the feel of the leather.
