Skechers 6" Boots
Not much like Alden's but the Nubuck gives a 'distressed' look and the boot is generally in the ball park - particularly considering the pants leg covers the top anyway. I walked into a 75% off sale and couldn't resist. The boots feel great and are one of the only pairs of shoes I have ever bought that I put right on and wore all day with no break in period. Style number 76726.

I have a similar pair myself. I got these on sale here where I live for $30 and they were originally $70.
The only difference I believe is that yours have the black sole while mine are a light tan and I believe yours have the steel toe where mine don't.

Actually, they are the same. Say, any tips for posting pics? The site doesn't seem to be able to post a pic from a hosting site the way all other forums do, although the instructions say that's the way to do it..
Added - I see what happened - I have the same style number as you, 60499. The other ones are the current style from the web site, and they do have the dark soles, which is even better. These are a good buy if you can catch a sale, whether you're looking for Indy boots or not. Very comfortable.

As far as posting pics goes I have an account on Photobucket and that seems to work just fine most of the time.
With the boots I figured they were close-enough even with the lighter sole. I've owned Skechers before and even with the clear soles they tend to darken up over time from regular use and dirt. I figured these would do the same.
They are the first boots I've owned that required no "breaking in time" whatsoever. They were comfortable from the start.
With the pants hanging over them and the "dirty or dusty" look to them you really can't see the lighter stitching.
I probably wouldn't have been able to buy them if they hadn't been onsale here where I live.
I do like the darker sole on the ones you own but I'm not a big fan of steel toed boots. I've had some bad experiences with them. So it's hard to say if I would have bought those or not.

Just got mine in today from Dillards online store. Cost about $39 or so with shipping. They have a similar pair at walmart... NO COMPARISON! The Sketchers are much more comfortable and look the part right out of the box. The sole is tan like the image above, but I can't beat the price compared to the real thing.

Let's just hope these don't vanish like the Huskers did. I know there are still some Huskers out there and the whole deal to have them reproduced for the fans is kind of up in the air at the moment but that still doesn't help guys like me with big feet that can't locate any Huskers in my size.
I looked a tons of boots online and at the local show stores and these were the closest and most comfortable I could find. I understand some people don't like the light sole and the light dusty tan color but for the price I got them at and the comfort I'm willing to overlook that.
I know there have been a few others that found closer boots but the price range on some of them was up in the low $100's and for that amount you might as well save up and buy a pair of Aldens!

Exactly. And being another "fan on a budget" the quality an lower cost of the Sketchers made them attractive to me. I wore them about 6 hours or so that first day and didn't have any major issues. I had to loosen them up at the top a bit so they didn't rub, but then I'm used to wearing low top tennis shoes that don't have that problem.
Definately one of the better "functional props" I've purchased.

Hey, looks like I own a piece of close-enough gear I didn't even know was gear! (Maybe the gearhead in my subconscious made me select these at the store... )
I've had these for about 3-4 months. I can say a few things about em that might help people decide--
First off, if you Pecards these things (then shine em if you want, I did), they're great in the rain/snow. And the best part--they darken up really nicely to a chocolate brown even just with the pecards that looks good distressed. Parts of the lighter original color come through on the scuffs, etc. Good cheap shoes you won't mind abusing. Mine already look awful, the shoe polish doesn't get a good finish on these and apparently bike kick stands can be really sharp...
The sole provides pretty good traction and it has actually worn down _much_ less than I expected from something like this. Pretty durable...unlike the fake welt right above the sole. I don't have a camera now, but if you look in the first picture, that dark area with brown stitching around the shoe is a fake plastic welt. This has cracked in a lot of places where the shoe bends in walking. Also, since this is actually just a cement-construction shoe like most, I've also had the particularly pronounced problem of the uppers coming unglued from the sole. I'm looking at the inside side of my left shoe right now and a good half of it is peeling up all down the length of the shoe. Guess you could shoe-goo, though.
Comfort-wise, not bad. All in all they're okay shoes. By the way, I have the model with the tan sole in case the other one's different.
Next time, I go the extra dollar and buy some machine-welted Chippewa's or some good ol' Corcorans. Anybody got these? (Not an "Indy" item per se but darn good quality)
