My next one will be a TOD too and no telling when I'll be able to order so you're way ahead of me. What leather did you choose?

I wanted a leather that would take a lil abuse. I chose predistressed cowhide with the option of D-Rings for the side straps. I hear lamb is really difficult to keep from tearing, however they have a new style called lambstouch.. I haven't gotten much feedback on it, so I went with cowhide to be sure.

I was looking at a ToD for my next too. I wanted it in goat, but unfortunately that's gone now!
You're going to love your jacket though. I have a Raiders Auth. Lamb and it's my favorite jacket of all.
Congrats!

Thanks Shane,
That is really nice to hear someone really enjoying their coat.
I am on day 5 now. 16 more workdays or less. I ordered mine with D-Rings. Did you get yours with D-Rings too? If so, do you have any problems or issues with them?
In Christ,
Scott

Well 9 days wait down of the 21. Called Gemma early this morning and confirmed that I do have a metal zipper in it. It is brass, not a silver colored one but at least it is metal.
It is official, I probably WILL watch Last Crusade however I was hoping just to watch just the first 2 movies till the jacket came in. Is anyone else in the middle of the big wait that would like to talk of how they are killing their time?

Just curious why you didn't request a silver zip? I mean has it already been put together and therefore Gemma would not offer you a choice? I wasn't even aware that they offered anything but metal zips, though I think the prototype "SA" jacket that (another member) received was brown in color..

Is there a problem with the brass zipper? Does it not hold up or something ? It is what they recommended. If there is a reason you think I should ask that it be changed, please let me know.

No quality issue that I'm aware of, just a screen-accuracy issue. Indy's zipper was silver, but Wested doesn't usually offer them.
So if you can get over the lack of S.A. the brass zipper should hold up fine.

The silver zippers are screen accurate, but the brass just plain looks better in my opinion... More rugged looking.

I tried to get Gemma to swap zippers early this morning but was informed that it was a little too late to be making a change as "your jacket was put in the post yesterday"
Cool !!! Still haven't gotten the tracking email but as long as I know it is on the way, I can plan for it's arrival.
Only reason I went with brass is that it doesn't reflect light as easily.. so If you are trying to hide from a Thugee cult, you don't have to worry about your position being compromised by a flashy zipper. Was just thinking functionality. I will keep these S.A. tips close to heart and use them wisely on my next jacket purchase....
Won't ...... be..... able.......to.......sleep.........today.......

P.S. Thank you again for your kind help and to the website admins who's site helps us better understand the purchases we are trying to make. I know no one knows everything but it is nice to go where a lot of nice folks know a little bit more than me .

Scott, don't worry, you'll love the look of the brass, and it really wears well over time. You made a good choice, so don't second guess yourself after the fact. You made the right decision....trust me.
HIGH regards! Michaelson

Yes don't worry the YKK zips used as standard are heavy duty and high quality.
The silver coloured ones are RIRI and also reputed to be a good make too, though I haven't had a jacket with one on, it seemed to be a smaller gauge than the antiqued brass YKK.

Sorry, I was just asking about the zipper 'cause alot of folks here are into being super screen accurate and all. I want my next to have silver since I've never owned one with it, but I've had many now with the brass and they are fine and about what 98% of all Indy Jackets have the brass zips. I did try on an Indy Jacket made by US Authentic that had a smaller gauge zipper that was silver (nichel or aluminum) and I really liked it alot, thought it was a very cool feature, I sent the jacket back and got something else though. Just keep it in mind for your future jacket... oh, there will be more

Thank you for helping me understand. Doug, your OK I enjoy getting feedback good or bad or just visiting about the hobby. It is nice to know that others have owned brass and that it is a good sturdy zipper. I had noticed a tendency for folks to order with the silver zipper and I didn't know if it was folks flocking from a fire or just a personal choice for screen accuracy. I really wasn't panicking about that.. just a little leery of going to sleep and missing the DHL dude with my package

Well... Officially 10 Business days into the wait and I am still very anxious. I just realized that I joined this site and ordered my first jacket one week and 3 days later. Watched LC last nice and had forgotten how deep and suspenseful that movie was. Looks like I am gonna have to make 2 lists:
A. Things to do while I wait for the jacket to come in
B. Things to do after it gets here
Hope all is well for those watching this thread.

I am so happy that I remained home today as a beautiful triple bagged item showed up on my doorstep. My cowhide TOD jacket is so lovely and fits and feels like I have worn it for years. I find that it is far superior to just about any piece of clothing I have ever owned and rest assured I WILL be ordering another fine piece of clothing from them soon. Thank you all again for being here and leading me to this experience through yours.
Sincerely,
Scott A. Wright
P.S. Pics to follow. I look forward to your thoughts and opinions. _ your experiences helped too. The company you had me investigate was out of stock for the season.

I ordered it on the 19th and it was at my doorstep today. 9 working days and it was reported as being in the mail by Gemma, personally. Oh, and MorseGist and I are in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I can't wait to provide pics as this Temple of Doom jacket appears to be way different than his normal pattern. It is WAY more "Raiderized" side vent. The side vent actually is open up to mid-strap on the coat like a Raiders Jacket. I literally had to take the coat off to double-check.. but yes.
I have had folks almost drive off the road when they saw me in my Fedora and new jacket and I have only had it 3.5 hours .... If anyone has questions please feel free to ask .

No need for apologies. No offense was taken. Was just trying to help you get a better handle on where I am. but Yeah the process time on that coat was fabulous. I can honestly say that it is a challenge finding a jacket that properly fits a small guy 5' 7" tall 110 lbs jacket size 36. It is a Godsend to find a company that tailor makes fashionable attire and Indy attire at that! Even better.
