British Whip Cracking Convention 2007

Post by English Whip Maker »

Hello Folks

Just putting my head above the parapet to let any UK members (and any members who will be in the UK at the time) know that this year's Whip Cracking Convention will be on Saturday 14th July, at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton.

Full details - travel info, entrance fee, start time etc, will be going on http://www.whipcrackuk.co.uk in the near future. If you're on MySpace, you can also find us at http://www.myspace.com/britishwhipconvention; and we have a blog at http://blog.myspace.com/britishwhipconvention. For various reasons, both of these are likely to be updated more regularly than the website, so join our 'friends' network or subscribe to the blog to get the latest news as and when it becomes available - and to get in contact with other whip crackers!

This year's convention will follow a similar format to previous years, with a mix of workshops, open practice space and informal competitions for all levels. The following link downloads BBC news coverage of our fist event in 2005: http://www.whipcrackuk.co.uk/files/Whip ... 202005.WMV .

If you're in the market for a new whip, there will be whips for sale and whips to win.

To keep costs down, we won't be providing food this year, but there is reasonably priced food available on site. The whole convention is undercover, so bad weather won't spoil our fun!

Hope to see some of you there!

Dave

I'm sure somebody will! There are a few decent pics; and one or two (rather grainy) videos on our MySpace profile (see original post).

We have been unable to upload anything to the website I listed in my original post but one of the organisers has put together an alternative site at http://www.ukwhipconvention.com.

Prices are:

Pre-reg: £12.50 adults / £10.00 under 16
On the door: £15.00 adults / £12.50 under 16

*Pre registration closes on 14th June 2007. Please ensure that payments for pre-reg arrive by this date. Email
whipconventionorganisers@yahoo.co.uk for payment details.

Children over 12 are welcome, accompanied by a parent/guardian.

A quick thank you this year's sponsors, as well. Each year we've been lucky enough to get some great prizes from whip makers around the world, and this year is no different. For 2007, our sponsors include:

Blue Gum Whips - http://www.bluegumwhips.com
Coyote Whips - http://www.coyotewhips.com
English Whips - http://www.whipstore.com
Lightspeed Whips - http://www.lightspeedwhips.com
Screaming Master Whips - http://www.screamingmaster.com
Steve Huntress -Steve can be contacted at jabahutt@msn.com

OK, that's it from me. Hope to see some of you there!

Dave
