If we took all of the Indy gear and extrapolated it to today, what do you think it would be? For example, what would be a modern replacement for the Aldens? The revolver, the leather jacket, the bullwhip, etc.?
this is just my opinion, but I think that the Indy-gear us modern enough as it is. The jacket isn't very 30-ish, the trousers aren't high-waisted. The thing that shouts "I'm from the 30's" is the fedora. But the modern boots would probalby be one of them ugly, colorfull hiking-boots made out of plastic or whatever. Gives me the shiverrs. The handgun could be a plastic Glock or something of the like. There is another ongoing disscusion about the bullwhip, and it did exist back in the day, so it could be left where it is, hanging from the belt. Another thing to change would be the hat. Maybe he would wear a trucker-cap? Belts the same. He wouldn't use his satchel, probably another ugly plastic back-pack.
Conclusion: Imagine Lara Croft with a stubble and there you have it, the moder day Indy

There are lots of threads on this subject. I'm sure VP will chime in eventually.
I think Indy would have looked a lot like Josh Bernstein really. The one thing we tend to forget is Indy's sense of style. He really was a well-dressed archaeologist by any standards. I recall a quote along the lines of pith helmets and khakis are bad from somewhere.
I think the jacket would change a little bit, perhaps. The style that is. He would probably go for a slightly longer version. The satchel would likely remain the same: easier to get into without taking it off, something one would need regardless of where one is. The bullwhip would be non-existant. Of course, it really is only a symbol of Indy: not a real have-to-have item. If you have ever worn one out for a hike through dense brush, you realize fast what a liability it is.
The gun would probably have to go too. They are so frowned upon in modern culture that he probably wouldn't be able to get it in country. If he did have a gun, it wouldn't be a Glock. He might start out with one, but it would only take him a little while to realize that Glocks are @#$%.
The hat would change from a fedora, but I think it would still be a felt. Look a Zahi Hawass: still wears a felt hat, just broader-brimmed and perhaps a tad bit more practical. The rest of the gear would probably change a little, but not much. I highly doubt he would wear wool pants. Probably Carhartts. The shirt might be a different color or two, but basically the same. Those pesky pleats would probably go too.
One addition I might have would be a flashlight. That and a GPS and he'd be set.

I figure the hat would either be a felt outback, or a canvas hat. A vest with a hundred pockets instead of the jacket. A henley-style shirt, cargo/hikers pants (tropic weigth), stout brown hiking boots (leather), a satchel like the one on Digging for the Truth (forgot his name), and a modern S&W Model 10 or Ruger revolver (nothing beats a revolver, even today)!
Oh, and a predistressed cowhide Wested for the those trips to Nepal. (brrr!)

Well, lets see.
Starting with the hat and jacket, I suggest that many outdoor types still wear brimmed hats today, so Indy's hat would not seem too out of place, just nicer than the standard wool felts on the market now. Leather jackets are certainly just as popular now as ever, so that seems fine to me too.
Pants and boots would most likely be updated. Tactical 5.11 pants maybe? Or even military BDU pants. I'm sure the shoes would be a modern gore-tex lined hiking boot, but many companies still make them with classic styling, all brown leather. I think his shirt is fine and would go well with his cargo pants.
Gun. If Indy did carry one despite all the PC frenzy against them (and I say he would), I am not too sure it would be a Glock, too utilatarian. Companies like Kimber have really have really re-invigorated the 1911 market, and they are very popular. Plus they are so much classier than the Glock, and we all know Indy had class and to spare. Although, that would mean he probably skipped right over the Kimber in favor of a nice Ed Brown or Wilson Combat. Revolvers are great, but seem to be reserved for more cowboy oriented activities (no offense intended, I love cowboy oriented activities, and revolvers).
The whip is the hard one. Would it be gone completely? Would it be replaced by something, and if so, what? Since it has practicality as a tool and weapon, what is there now that is even like it?
This is fun, but I'm tired and want to go to bed now.
