Found a Mystery of the Blues cardigan...

After searching all over for a shawl-collared cardigan, I found a company in Mexico that makes all sorts of sweaters. I had them take one of their designs and modify it to look like a classic 1920's style cardigan:

It goes great with the standard Indy Gear for that Mystery of the Blues look:

I had them make it quite a snug fit to give it that old-fashioned look and so it'd fit under my jacket easily. I hope you enjoy the photos... we're just starting the summer season down here and it's hot! That's why I look so serious... ;)

Kind regards,
Indy

It does look very nice, especially with the jacket and certainly has that period look to it.

I am curious as to what had to be done to make one of their designs look like a classic 1920's style cardigan. Did you mean just making it fit snug to give it that old-fashioned look," and which specific sweater did they/you ultimately select to be modified.

....sold these designs about two years ago. I have a tan one exactly like what you're wearing, BUT, mine is probably 2 sizes to big! _ could wear it....I can use mine as a tent. (grins) Seriously, if you scan through the LandsEnd catalog, as well as their discontinued stores you can find these cartigans, right down to the buttons. Regards. Michaelson (p.s. thanks for reminding me I had this, Indy. I'm going to pull it out tonight. It's COLD up here! )

Rixter, they made a generic "shawl collared cardigan"... so that's basically where I started. I had them put no pattern into the knit, shorten the bottom, tailored it snugly and add hidden side pockets next to the side seams. I'm very happy with the results. They also dyed the wool to that colour (I think they only usually make black, white and red!???), so they should be able to make it in any colour you like.

Michaelson... enjoy your new/old cardigan! ;) And... BTW, thanks again on the watch help. I just got it shipped from the States and it's great!

Kind regards,
Indy

Great find. Might actually help cut the winter cold here.

There's nothing quite like reading a thread that is a few years old and thinking of a question to dust somebody's mind with. So if folks can answer, I'd be glad.

It's starting to warm up here in Phoenix, but the mornings are just barely cool enough for a lightweigh lambskin jacket. You might need a cardigan if you are up before the sun or out late at night.

My OCD is driving me to get one of these Indy shawl collared cardigan sweaters for next winter.

Indy Magnoli, can you share the ordering color you selected and the company name or contact information so we can order one like it?

Well, I followed a link that was embedded in this chain, and ended up with not one, but two lambswool rolled collared cardigans from Lands End. One came from a domestic USA store/warehouse, a dark green one since they did't carry a brown, so that was going to get me by, and then I found one from the UK Lands End store (online) in a nice brown.

My brown one has literally been around the world. It was made in China (both of them were, actually), shipped to the UK Lands End store, then sold and shipped to me in Arizona. I think I need Indy Magnoli to make a passport for it. :D

I picked up a brown 100% Pashima scarf (on that infamous auction site with the help from a fellow COW member's simple key phrase words), so now I feel pretty well set to have my MotB set up, even though I still have not seen that episode.

Thanks to the folks on this thread and the other one linked to this for the leads, information, and pictures. You all on here are helpful, friendly, and I dare say AWESOME. Thanks for sharing.
