I had to give my wife the Indy from US Wings that I got the other day because of a sizing issue (me being to conservative with, ahem, certain measurments....) and she loves it, so now to me. Is the distressed cow that US Wings uses tanned that way, or is it a process that they engage in after the jacket is made? If after, could Goat, for example, but done up in a similar manner?

I lightly distressed my U.S. Wings clearance goatskin jacket. I could not stand the almost plastic-like coating on it.
I lightly wiped the entire jacket down with some rubbing alcohol to get rid of the coating. I applied some additional pressure around the elbows, pocket seams, and snap area, to fade the dye a little. The jacket was really dry then, so I gave it a good Pecard treatment. I am pleased with how it looks and how much more supple feeling.
