Anybody here has the courtesy to post a photo of the FS jacket zipper pull?
Also, is the FS zipper the same grade (gauge) as the YKK brass zippers used in Wested jackets? I would appreciate a photo comparison from someone who owns both jackets.
Thanks.

YKK's I have on my jackets have a number on the pull, is that the gauge?
The Indys have 8 and the War of the Worlds has 5 the WOW has smaller teeth (it is also a 2 way zipper).

Well, Wested mainly uses the YKK Brass gauge 8.
I understand the gauge 5 is smaller.
What is the size FS use?
Anyone who owns both Wested and FS can post a photo of the two side by side for comparison?
thanks.

KT said that the WotW zipper is a YKK #5 with small teeth, and TR confirmed that it's what FS uses. At least that's the impression I got.

Are you even reading this thread? TR posted a photo of the FS zipper, right after he posted what size the zipper was.

LOL,,,this is beginning to sound like a stooges episode,,
anyhoo, yes, the zipper teeth are smaller on a Flightsuits than a Wested. Personally, for a lambskin, I prefer the smaller toothed zipper, as the bigger teeth will tend to mar the leather when it is rubbed across the teeth, i.e. when plopping your jacket down or inadvertantly rubbing your sleeves across the zip. My U.S. Wings has a HUGE 10D zipper on it and it shreads the leather regularly, leaving scratch marks on it. Fortunately, I'm not too concerned about it, as it was purchased for a beater jacket anyway. The flightsuits zipper is perfect size for all the leathers,,,once again, Flightsuits comes through with FLYING colors. I like Wested, but Flightsuits is just awesome. The only negative thing about Flightsuits, and I mead ONLY,,is the price. New they're the higher end of 400 dollars, but if you can get one on clearance for 250.00 YOU CANNOT LOOSE! Jump on it!

Thanks for your post my firend. But have you read what I asked for?
I asked for a side by side photo of a Wested and FS to compare the zippers. I have a zipper in hand which is supposedly a 5 but I am not sure.
So, asked for a photo to check and confirm? Is it a lot to ask?

Sorry my friend I have not seen your pic. I was away. I only saw Texas Raider's photo. I thanked in advance, and also thanked Texas Raider when I saw his post. Thank you too anyway.
KT Templar's photo is quite helpful. Thank you.

The FS zip is a smaller gauge - easier to conceal... They use the same size as the A2 and the same size leather concessionaires used on the stunt jacket I examined...

Hey _,
I really like what you wrote above because I sent a 5 gauge zipper to Peter to install on my jacket.
But, I just found the following 2002 post by Peter
Forum: Leather Jacket Posted: Fri Aug 09, 2002 5:12 am Subject: Strap adjustment buckles...a question.
Petterson is quite right about the zips. The original film jackets had standard 8 guige aluminiun zips which were painted to give the impression of brass. This was because the timescale of making, and ...
What do you think?

I thought they had steel zippers painted brass, but the paint wore off. Or perhaps I'm confusing the zippers with the web belt buckles.

It's very simple. I don't understand why you don't understand
The zipper was alluminum. The film makers wanted it to appear brass, so they painted it brass. But with the use the paint wore off, so the zipper went back to its original alluminum color that we see in the film.
I also don't understand why you didn't understand my question, or if you did why you changed subject.
I am asking what size was the zipper. Peter say 8 gauge, _ say 5.
Which one is right?

The web belt buckels were plated ones, and the brass layers were worn off. I got that effect on a couple of plated buckles of mine.
