Optimum Raiders pocket size?

I think I found the right pocket size. I was based on a well known photo of the pocket and assuming that the side strap is 1 inch wide, managed to find that pocket should measure 7 x 6.5 inches.
I was able to force the left pocket of my jacket to that measurement using an adhesive tape. (That's why pocket distance to hem is not right-but don't let that bother you).
Just look at the two pockets of my standard Wested for comparison. The other one is 8.25 x 6.5 (huge height).
I also tried to paste the proportional size pocket on the well know photo and here are the results.
I am not a photoshop magician but hey, what do you think?

Comparing your two pockets, I like the size of the one you taped. I think on my next order I'm going to go with 7 x 6.5 as the pocket size.

Yeah, but be sure to ask pocket flap to be 3 inches in its center, otherwise it will not look good.

I think KT mentioned the current wested pockets in comparison to the Smithsonian pocket size were about an inch too tall. That was on the last page of the Todd's jacket post I think.

KT mentioned that his pockets were 7 x 6 when we were discussing the TOD cargo pockets.

Looks good! That size seems right to my eye...nice work!

This is good stuff. The only slight issue is that that flap still looks a little bit insubstantial next to the movie version. A little tweaking and it'll be as good at it gets.

Cool! I get quoted in a thread I'm not even in.

Yes, the pockets on my 38/40 are 7 and a smidge" tall x 6" wide and I wouldn't have them any bigger.

Yes, the Smithsonian LC jacket that MK traced a pocket off matches exactly a modern Wested pocket including the curve on the corners of the pocket, it is, however about an inch too tall. BUT this LC pocket is noticably wider than my one.
(Don't know the dimensions... will investigate further if the opportunity arises).

Okay, here's a life size of Indy's pocket measuring 7 x 6.5 inches for your consideration.
It shows also how the pocket flap should be. Anything less scalloped is NOT screen accurate, if you care about these things.

We still have to keep in mind the fact that the jacket worn in Raiders was a size 40?? 42?.....someone with a larger jacket will need larger pockets.
Not sure of the increments, but I figure add 1/4" to both length and width for each size up from a size 40.

You are right. But the exact increments are something that the makers should know while proportions must be constrained.

I asked that question before, but nobody really answered me. Apparently there are different pocket templates for different sizes, but the reality is that pocket sizes are all over the place. I'm not sure if vendors are scaling them correctly. For example, agent 5 posted a picture in which the pockets must surely have been from a size 56 XXXXXL jacket. Those hand-warmers could fit mickey mouse hands. Also, from looking at pictures posted in these forums, clearly the pockets are generally way too big.
Conveniently, Harrison Ford in raiders was a size 40R, which is the industry standard for a prototype. Once details are set for that size, manufacturers should be able to scale the pockets (along with everything else) pretty easily, since they should have a different pattern for each jacket size.
They're either:
A) not bothering to scale the pockets
B) not bothering to make sure the appropriate pocket patterns are matched with the corresponding size jacket pattern
In either case, it's troubling.
Ever buy a suit? Even an off-the-rack $99 suit from Walmart? The patch flap pockets are scaled for each size. It's standard industry practice.
