WooooHooooo!! New Wested HH arrived today!!

Post by spiridon »

Hey guys, thanks for all the info provided leading me to make this purchase......a lady from USPS just dropped off a "surprise" pkg!!(I wasn't expecting it until next week)
I am very pleased with the construction, the feel, and that intoxicating leather smell of this jacket. I think it fits pretty good.....I could have probably gone just a tad smaller......but overall I think it's a good fit....whaddya think?

Looks great Spiridon.
Horse hide is tough stuff too.

AND ... That lid looks great. Where did you find that?

All the best,

Thanks Chris....the hat is a vintage I picked up on ebay a while back...it's a so called "custom" made by "Masterbuilt". If I'd known my jacket was arriving today i would have worn my AB to work today.

....yeah, I really like this HH....it's heavier than the Lambskin I have, but still VERY pliable.....not stiff at all. 8)

great jacket spiridon. i don't think it looks too big on you and from what i hear HH will mold to your form nicely. enjoy it my friend.

i'll agree with canasta thats a nice fedora you're sporting there.

cheers

Thanks IG, I can already tell that will be the case. I'm not sure which one is my favorite (HH or Lamb)....but they are definitely different. The lamb is so soft, and sort of drapes to what ever (whomever) it is covering, while I can tell this HH will take on the form and characteristics of my frame.

Details! Give us some details. Which jacket is it? Raiders, TOD, etc? Off the rack or custom? 80's or regular cut?

And why do you think it's too large? Did you take measurements when you ordered? Personally I think it looks good but I've been a little curious as to how they cut it. I'm between a 42 & 44 so I'm curious which size to err on.

*Edit* Oh ya....you lucky bugger!! ;)

I'm constantly impressed at how nicely the horsehide drapes and just how great it looks full stop!

Is that dark brown? or do thay only offer one colour in the HH?

I'd say you probably could have gone slightly smaller in sizing but it'll come into it's own on colder days where you have to layer under it.

Would love to see it again after a few months wear.

Nice jacket, sir!

All the horsehides which wested offers are dark brown. But the hide is a bit of a chamaleon. It always looks different under different lightning.

Looks like the horse hide would make a nice alternative to the goat. It looks softer and seems to have a smooth texture, but it'll have all the durability of the goat, I would think.

Either way, great looking jacket, and fantastic lid! Looks like one of Art Fawcett's! :D

Thanks again guys.....Julian, it is a "Raiders" jacket.....and I asked for an 80's fit, so I'm assuming it is. I really didn't ask for much in the way of "custom features such as right handed zipper, etc. I did get the rectangular clasps instead of the "D" rings.
I don't really think it's too large even though I probably conveyed that in my initial post, I'm probably one of those "in-between" sizes......in fact it's probably "just right" in the shoulders, and the sleeves end up just where I like them. It is tagged as a size 40......and this is what Peter said I would need when I gave him my measurements.
KT, I agree about the later photos.....I think there will be a big difference in it's appearance and the way it actually fits after a little "on the job" wear. 8)
I'll be sure to post some pics later.

.....one thing for sure, in future pics I'll try not to have such a DOPEY expression as I do in that bottom photo!!!

Great jacket!
Wear it ones in the rain and "sweat it" in, and it will be perfect.
Pecard it well afterwards and you'll have a jacket you dont want to put on a hanger for more than while you're sleeping. ;)

Just perfect! I am really tempted by the Horse now...will probably end up with one. Yours looks great and I personally think the fit is just right, there is something to be said for a little roomyness. Congrats!

That's a fine looking jacket and it looks like it fits you well. Nothing like getting something a week early!

A beauty that fits you well! Darn, I need to get me one of these horse hides.

Question to All: Realtive to goat, is it safe to say that both Horse Hide and Cowhide are heavier? I'm looking for a heavier hide than goat.

Lao Feng the answer is YES! Both hides Cow and Horse are heavier and thicker than the Goat.
