Shirt, Pants and Aldens

Greetings all! - Indy Gear, such a wonderful find! So much information, so much research, it is quite bewildering, impressive and intimidating all in one.

I am interested in authentic. This can be scrutinised further I know, as are we talking movie releases, licensed copies or most screen accurate? For me, I'd like to tie screen accurate with quality, so possibly originals not necessarily licensed copies.

The jacket is a minefield, lambskin, cow hide? Which make?

The tan shirt isn't available from the listed url, so what else is on offer?

The aldens I think I have sussed from reading a few posts, Aldens and find the nearest store or go for the WWI type. Again more guesswork.

The pants are again troublesome as there seems no main choice, only quality chino's like the fine example posted here.

I have asked many things, likely from frustration, so I apologise in advance. The sheer amount of info in this fine forum and the real ability to get some quality gear leaves me as keen and giddy as the first time I saw Raiders. Any experienced tips or suggestions like 'buy this shirt + url' would be pretty awesome!

Thanks all and keep the spirit alive!

We're way beyond any licenced replicas here.

For clothing you can have every item from the very people who supplied them for the movies, something that blows my mind every time I think about it.

You can get an original bag from exactly the same era as the ones used in the film.

You can get boots from the people that Ford himself insisted on!

Any you have a multitude of choices on all gear items from many vendors.

It's become a cliche but the choice is yours and you must choose well. But that is the truth, there is so much information here please spend some time reading through each section BEFORE you plump down and buy any gear. It may save you money in the long run.

But most of all relax and have fun.

From one Brit to another.

Welcome!

Kt.

Thanks for your post. The options are endless. So what boots did Harrison demand? Which shirt is the most appropriate? I almost wish to draw from a broad pool of experience for a sudden shopping spree, a fix long over due.

Thank you Kt and all. Keep me posted!

Orthopedic Alden 405's, and the shirt depends on what you want. NH is the original maker and is situated in Britain, Wested is from the UK also. If you get a Magnoli, WPG or close enoughs you might have to pay big shipping costs and import taxes.

STAY AWAY. The WPG is NOT by any standards a good shirt. Whoever designed the proportions on this shirt was on crack.

It's a good shirt, but the chest size is off like 3 feet or so I've heard.

i don't know vp, i wouldn't even call it a 'good' shirt. if you manage to get it tailored perfectly to your shape, you still have to deal with the fact that the material is very stiff/hard/coarse to the point that the fine stitching around the button holes come apart very easily. its not very comfortable to wear against your skin and the epaulettes (sp?) tend to twist and wrinkle way more than the pleats (which is the desired effect on the pleats, not the shoulder thingys with the buttons).

i got the body and the sleeves taken in by a considerable amount which pulls the back pleat in a very undesireable fashion. looks pretty bad unless you keep it covered by the wested.
