I have the LC jacket with the 80's fit option and can't help but notice so much extra jacket under my arms and behind my shoulders, is this normal? The only problem I have with it is if I tighten up the buckles even just a little it makes the back of the jacket stick out alot behind my shoulders. I almost need to send a photo I guess to describe it better.

If I were to guess, I'd say the jacket was simply too large (plenty of experience in that department... )

How old is the jacket? I noticed the same thin on my goat skin Wested, but it calmed down considerably with time and wearing. Just my two cents.

It is barely a month old.

Here is a simple way to see if your jacket is too large for you.

Take the jacket, and zip it up. Lay it flat on your bed or some other
flat surface, with the zipper facing up.

Then, measure it from under one armpit seam to the other armpit seam across
the chest.

Then, double that number. That is the jackets total chest measurement.

Now, measure your own chest, around the fullest part.

For the 80's fit, the jacket should measure 2 to 3 inches bigger than
your actual chest.

For a military, normal fit, the jacket should measure 4 inches bigger than your
actual chest.

For a roomy fit, the jacket should measure 6 inches bigger than your
actual chest.

If your jacket measures more than 6 inches over your actual chest
measurement, the jacket it TO BIG for you, and that is why you are
getting the extra material in the back.

If that is the case, you have to go down a size or two in order to get the
the proper fit.

I didn't do that armpit measuring but I ordered a size up 44 jacket, and according to you it has four inches of movement room so it has exactly those six inches of movement room needed for a roomy fit.

For those of us that have the cursed 'bigger stomach than chest' measurements, disregard the above information. You're back to pure guesswork again....

My chest is bigger than my stomach...though not by a whole lot! 48" chest. My new US Wings measures 51", and fits well, and I don't consider it "tight". I definitely would not want it any larger, though.

Your right between the 80's fit and a nice military fit, and thats a good
place to be if you like your jackets to be form fitting, but not tight.

One bad part of that will be if you try to layer the jacket over stuff like
a sweatshirt or sweater if it gets cold. Its adding in layers that eats up
any movement room you have.

If you only wear tee shirts and whatnot, then your fine.

I have a Wested that gives me a nice 4 inches of movement room for
my chest size.

I wear it with tee-shirts and button down shirts for work. I can wear a
sweatshrit under it, but then it is really too tight, and harder to move
around in.

My US Wings Vintage Cow, in a size large gives me about 6 inches of
movement room, and its that jacket that I normally wear with the layers.
It fits a bit too loose with just tee shirts and button downs on.

The nice thing about this hobby is that you can get a jacket that fits you
pretty much any way you want. One person might like them loose, one
might like them tight, and one might like them inbetween. Me, I am
the inbetween guy.

I take it you have a 42 inch chest then. How does the jacket fit if you
put on a few layers, like a tee shirt under a sweater, and then the jacket?

These days I always wear it with a sweater, and it fits fine. When I only have a t-shirt on it's a bit loose. Just measured the jacket and it clocked in at a chest size of 120.5 cms, which is about 47 7/16 inches or 47.4". With a sweater on my chest is about 108-109 cms, 43 inches. So approximately 4.5 to 5.5 inches of movement room on my jacket. Sometimes I would prefer a tighter fit, perhaps a DB lamb or goat someday.

I can easily wear a sweater/sweatshirt under my jacket. I can even wear a vest. No problem.

I actually wore mine with a hooded fleece sweatshirt last night while taking the dog for a walk, it was a little tight and the sleeves were quite a bit shorter but it did keep the cold out . One mistake I think I made when ordering was making the length between shoulders 21" and having 25" sleeves when I really should have ordered 19" shoulder width and 26" sleeves. I did not realize until I measured a jacket that fits me "perfect", when I measured my shoulder width for Peter instead of telling him from the "top" of the shoulder I told him by measuring the very outside of my shoulder which is wider since I workout alot. Oh well, next time I order I will have it right on the money
