Wested's Dark Brown Goat question..

Post by Doug C »

Does anyone know what tanning and dyeing process is used for Wested's Dark Brown Goatskin? ex. chrome or vegetable tanned, dyed.. Will it fade to a tan or grey or lighter under color with time and used? Aren't they usually out of stock lately?

Peter has stated they are chrome tanned. They do eventually fade over time and use, and most have reported a gray undertone. Peter also says the goatskin source has dried up at the moment due to small hides, so they aren't currently available.

Watch the vendors section for any updates.

I wonder if the same is true with the horsehide? Thought I remember someone saying that it had a reddish undertone, which would be consistant with an Aniline dyed product..which if I understand correctly is usually veg. tanned - I could be wrong on that though.
