Club Obi Wan

I was thinking a whip kit that was specirfically for making an Indy 12 plait 10 foot whip, screen-accurate, would be a lovely item.
Anybody make that?
I looked at the other kits, but they werent the right style..

I've thought about trying to offer Indy whip kits, though I'm not sure how much of the whip to finish and how much to leave undone for someone else.

I myself find tying a good Indy-style 5-part 4-bight 3-pass turk's head a challenge. Tying it is easy, I should say, but getting it to look good is difficult.

Also, paring (i. e. beveling) the strands in a whip is not a job for a beginner, so that would have to be done by me. I imagine everything would have to be done except plaiting the overlay. The person would then have to tie on the fall, put on the wrist loop, and tie the knots on the handle.

If the person could just buy a whipmaking book as instruction for finishing the whip, it wouldn't be so bad. If I had to put together instructions from scratch the instructions would make the whip kit cost more than a finished whip.

When I helped someone make a whip last winter, all that person did was plait the overlay and I did everything else.

So, yeah, thinking about whip kits gives me a headache

that sounds great deal to me. an 8 ' 12 plait indy roo whip kit with the hard parts already done plus instructions.( prior reading/study requirements OK)
I'd go 100$ for something like that
