Just ordere Wested Auth brwn Lamb-the wait ...IS OVER!

Post by rbxb »

Well freinds & neighbors. I just ordered my first NEW Wested
Specs are the 919 pattern /Raiders /Chris King
Thanks you board members for providing th "Chris king / Agent 5 specs.
Heres my spec additions
80's style /Chris King / pattern 919

42 Reg
Lining - standard Cotton body / Satin sleeves ** (* or all satin lining)
Zipper - standard Antique Brass
Storm Flap - standard 1.5 inches
Collar Stand - standard leather
Inside pocket - standard
**Elastic band under liner on back
Side vent stitch - standard NO stitch holding the side vents closed.
**Pockets - * request smaller 7.5\" by 6.25\"
**Side Strap- Length : 8.75 inches (22.3cm) Width : 1 inch (2.5cm)
Side straps sewn with X pattern AND box pattern, double stitched.
**Side Strap Buckle - standard brass D-rings. ( curious if brass Pronged buckles in antique brass with holes & eyelets still available?...either way, the side strap will face forward when put through the buckles)
**Underarm Gussets- 1 piece (small) underarm gussets

Upon arrival I will be selling my 42 Reg Lambtouch which is in perfect shape to defray some costs
So far Peter & Gemma have been timely & efficient with their email exchanges & we're off to a good start. If all goes as planned , I cant imagine purchasing a likeness from anyone else.
I currently hve a lamb & a Goat & bought & resold Marosey's Lambtouch. The Lambtouch was my all time favorite considering drape & weight but alas a 40 is too snug for this ol codger

...stay tuned & thanks for all the help with the particulers..

I'll put some pics of the soon to be sold 42 Lambtouch on my page :

That's a great looking jacket. And, as a fellow drummer also from central Texas, I'd also like to compliment you on that Yamaha kit. 8)

just exchanged emails with Gemma.
She assures me the jacket will be cut per my specs & should be dispatched next week.
I'm trying my best not to "nag" them. However , considering these "concerns" a little reassurance is a good thing...
BTW The reply was fast & was appreciated....

Sounds like a great jacket, can't wait to see pics. I am also curious to know if the antique pronged buckle with eyelets are still available, could you post when you find out about them?

Me too.
I am pleased with the fast email responses I have received from Gemma.
I've asked for & received confirmation on my specs.
But I never got any answer regarding the buckles/prong option.
I'll just settle for d-rings but I'd really prefer the buckles/eyelets..
Maybe someone else can get a response???

Interesting. I've received no less than 3 PM's from folks just today asking why they can't get Wested to respond to their email requests for ordering information. :?

Wonder why they're getting back to you, and not to them?

Would you mind posting the email address you're using, in case they're using a wrong one?

Sure.
Wested@wested.com

Boy, this "hit & miss" deal with them is frustrating. Considering Sgt Hack is consistantly superfast & very accomidating..(according to your other posts)

During my order I sent an email or two to wested that was not responded to, and when after no reply I wrote back and got an e-mail from Gemma saying that I must not have gotten her reply. Maybe some wested emails are getting lost in the net? :-k

rbxb - It looks like you're going to have a fine jacket. I also ordered single gussets on my jacket and I tell you what I couldn't be more pleased that I did order them! I'm so use to my jacket bothering me when I drive (most times I just take my jacket off before driving around) but with the gusset it is no problem! In my opinion gussets are completely worth the extra money.

Kev,
Thanks
I really like your new Wested. Especially the collar. I hope mine is the same. I also agree on letting ones jacket distress on its own. But then I plan to wear mine. Not make movies with it...

Thank you sir. Yes, they are aware of the time difference.

To those who wrote me, the email address was correct, so you got me why you haven't heard back from Wested. If you don't hear anything soon, you might want to drop a dime (or quarter, or what ever it costs now) and call them instead.

We now return you to our regularily scheduled program, already in progress.....

maybe you should let those people know that sometimes those e-mails get filtered out as junk mail. I found two Wested e-mails in there when I was waiting for them to respond to me about my jacket last Feb.

If your filters are set too high, or if you use a third party email scanner the .uk domain attached to the email header that you don't see is probably throwing it. If you use Outlook you can set it to automatically junk junk, and you will never see it.

Gmail at least saves it all ( and i have about 90 invites-2+ gigs storage and access to their webhost and other things like the Online calendar...nice. PM's if interested) and lets you clear it with one click. You can configure gmail to check your other POP accts. and you can set it up to allow you to 'send' as your other accts as well. pretty slick. The search function is about the best ever for weeding through junk and once you find one that isn't one click and its not junk anymore.

I did the same thing when I was waiting for mine! I was in Disneyworld for about 9 days and called home to check everyday and nothing. Then I would sit on my front porch waiting for the mailman and nothing. It will come and will be worth the wait!

Are those pockets bigger than normal? Or is it because of a slimmer cut, which makes it looks bigger? If that's what small is, then I wonder what a LC looks like?

The Wait is OVER! Wested gets an "A"

Post by rbxb »

My new Wested "ROTLA" arrived today!! :D :!:
It arrived USP. I did have to sign for it but there were no other charges i e customs or duty....
I can now put my QC fears to rest. Wested did everything right! They filled my specs as requested without any disparity. None! It's perfect.
I want to go on record as the guy who got his Wested coat & is pleased without a "but".
The authentic brown is darker than I thought & that's my assumption not Wested 's misdoing.
Thanks to Peter, Gemma & all those British craftsmen for providing this cowboy with a quality product.
One note * The Lamb is a hair lighter (in weight) than the Lambtouch. I agree with most on this board that the Lambtouch is a more rugged, durable leather.
They both feel buttery soft, & drape is great.... Now that I've handled both side by side, I'd order a Lambtouch if I got a do-over.
IMHO those of us who want the durability of goat & drape of Lamb, the lambtouch is the choice...

To offset cost, I'll be selling my older Wested (see pics above) & I may sell one of my new Wested Indy shirts (size L) with it as a package. Watch for items & price soon to be posted on Cairo Bizarre section

Please email me at mbixbyREMOVETHIS@grandecom.net

I figgered you'd catch that. A bit of subtle levity from down south.
Michaelson I know you & Peter go way back & i'm telling you, they really "nailed" this one! sleeve length, elastic, smaller pockets, collar everything. Maybe they heard our concerns & adjusted I dunno ??
I do know my experience is all positive
btw I saw a piece on the Webly on TV --very interesting ..but thats another forum...

cheers, shalom, chow & adios for now

That jacket is a beauty. I'm curious as to what instructions, if any, you gave to Wested regarding the collar. On my recent order I asked for an "Original Raiders style (ie. smaller) collar". Now I'm wondering if that was the correct thing to ask for, or if I need to nitpick Gemma - something I swore to myself I WOULDN"T do. Any thoughts, anyone?

Thanks Indy Johnson. I really think this ones a keeper.
My complete specs are at the top of this post.
I made no changes to the collar..other than Raiders /80's
They followed every detail right down the line
I'll be ordering more leather from them as soon as I sell my Lambtouch.

Nice jacket rbxb, the pics are a bit big even for those of us with widescreen monitors! :). Board specs are max 640 px wide please.

And you could have cracked a smile, huh? :)

Good to see were seeing some serious scalloping on pockets recently too.

Good observation. I dont think it hinders the fit though.
Another thimg I noticed, Is the collar stand is taller than my lambtouch. This also has no affect on the resulting look of either collar.

Good looking jacket! :)

I've always been scared that the "authentic brown" would look too much like a "milk chocolate" color but that looks perfect to me! Honestly it doesn't look too much different than my dark brown lamb.

Thanks for sharing!
